Crispy Oven-Baked Green Bean Fries
These crispy crunchy green bean fries are baked in the oven so they’re a perfect healthy side dish! Pair them with your favorite veggie burger for an easy dinner!
When I was younger, I wasn’t a big fan of green beans. To be fair, we mostly ate canned green beans which I still don’t love. But fresh green beans? It turns out they’re delicious. And even if you or your family members aren’t in love with green beans just yet, these crispy green bean fries might be just the recipe to convert you!
Anyways, these crispy green bean fries are baked in the oven and they’re just a little bit addicting! You’ve been warned.
Tips for perfectly crispy green bean fries
- Pat the green beans dry with a clean dish towel after washing.
- Use panko crumbs instead of breadcrumbs. Panko crumbs tend to be larger and flakier than breadcrumbs, so you’ll get more of a crunch
- When coating the green beans with the egg wash, it can be helpful to use a fork to dip them before transferring them to the panko crumbs. If you use your fingers, you’ll likely get sticky and end up with a lot of egg in the panko crumbs.
- Be sure not to crowd the baking sheet. The green beans should be on a single layer in order to get as crispy as possible.
How to prepare fresh green beans
- First, give the green beans a good rinse. Gently scrub any dirt off the surface.
- Then, pat the green beans dry.
- Use a sharp knife to trim the ends off the green beans.

Sauce to Serve with Green Bean Fries
We ate our green bean fries without any sauce because they have plenty of flavor on their own, but I think they’d also be delicious dunked into an array of sauces.
- Try this avocado dip which is a favorite with sweet potato fries. Why not green bean fries?
- This homemade tzatziki sauce is deliciously creamy but still healthy thanks to Greek yogurt!
- Of course, for a super easy sauce, you can always stick with traditional ketchup!

Can this be made or prepared a day ahead somehow? I am hosting a huge dinner for my family this year, and in over my head. Trying to get as many things done today as possible. Thanks!
Hey Jenna! Unfortunately, I wouldn’t recommend making these early because the breadcrumbs will get soggy. But breading the green beans is pretty easy so maybe you can outsource it to young helpers? 🙂 Good luck!
