Fruity Chia Smoothie
This fruity chia seed smoothie is packed with protein, fiber, and healthy fats! Although it has no added sugar, it still tastes like a sweet treat!
Since Alex and I are on this no-added-sugar kick, fruit has been the only source of sweetness we’ve really had. That probably sounds a little sad (no fro yo!?) but it’s actually been way easier than I thought. The other benefit? Fruits naturally taste sweeter than they did before!
So while we haven’t been eating many “sweets”, the things we are eating are sweeter than ever! So when a craving does hit me, I usually reach for some berries. They’re perfect for a smoothie because it’s easy to keep a bag of berries in the freezer and they’re still a low-sugar fruit. I’m giving up Sweet Frog… but I’m still enjoying fruity treats like this smoothie!

Description
This fruity chia seed smoothie is packed with protein, fiber, and healthy fats! Although it has no added sugar, it still tastes like a sweet treat!
Ingredients
- 1/4 cup almond milk (I used unsweetened plain Almond Breeze)
- 1/4 cup plain or vanilla Greek yogurt
- 1 cup frozen mixed berries (mine were blackberries, raspberries, strawberries, and cherries)
- 1/2 cup ice
- 1 tbsp chia seeds
Instructions
- Add everything to the blender and blend until combined!
- You can use fresh berries if you don’t have frozen ones on hand, but your smoothie won’t be quite as thick and chilled.
- If you don’t have chia seeds, this smoothie will still taste the same, but the chia seeds add a nice kick of healthy fats and fiber!

I’ve been known to eat this for breakfast… or dessert. It seriously tastes like a fruity sorbet! I think we’re going to start eating more fruits this week, but we’re still avoiding added sugars.

I always add chia to my smoothies and now that the weather is finally getting warmer smoothies are my go to in the morning…..and afternoon!
I never think to toss chia seeds in there but I’ll definitely be doing it more often!
love that you added chia!!! I never thought of that, i have so many chia seeds, gonna try this 😀
Yum! I love berry smoothies, and really need to incorporate chia seeds more.
I think it helped keep me a little more full, too!
Love this! The babe is sick and not really eating right now, so we’ve been spoon feeding him smoothies. Obviously a 1 year old can’t eat a whole smoothie so I’ve been enjoying my fair share as well!
Haha that’s awesome! A perfect share snack 😉
Perfect for the morning or an afternoon pick me up! Love the flavours in this 🙂
I love the color of this smoothie – it’s so vibrant and almost too pretty to drink (almost!).
I had a huge aversion to chia seeds during pregnancy that I threw my whole bag away. It sure would’ve come in handy right about now. Ha!
I have pancreatic issues, therefore have to watch my sugar intake. I have gone from loving sugar to being turned off my things that are overly sweet–can’t wait to give this smoothie a try!
I have been trying to limit my sugar as well and I so agree, fruit is soooo much sweeter now 🙂 I love combining dark sweet cherries with blueberries and strawberries for a super sweet combo when I get a sugar need. I can’t wait to try this smoothie next time I get to wanting something sweet!
I used to not be a cherry fan but I LOVE them frozen in smoothies or yogurt!
What a perfect seedy creamy smoothie! Love the color!
