Savory Granola
This savory granola is salty and crunchy, making it a uniquely delicious snack! It’s perfect on top of salads or dips for a tasty crunch, or eat it by the handful like a trail mix!
What is Savory Granola?
While most granola is a sweet treat, this salty, savory granola is a uniquely delicious snack! It’s filled with crunchy almonds, seeds, and rolled oats, that are toasted until crispy and crunchy. The egg white helps the granola stick together so you have irresistible clusters of granola.
Ways to Use Savory Granola
- Enjoy it by the handful, like a trail mix
- Add it on top of salads or soups
- Sprinkle it on top of homemade hummus
- Add a scoop to your favorite yogurt bowl
It’s perfect to add to a dish where you want a little salty, savory crunch! It’s also tasty to enjoy as a snack on its own. Feel free to adjust the spices based on what you like!
Tips for the Perfect Savory Granola
- If you like your granola to have large clusters, don’t skip the egg white! That’s what helps the granola stick together.
- Be sure to stir the mixture halfway through baking, to ensure it cooks evenly. If your oven has hot spots, keep a close eye on the pan to make sure you don’t burn it.
How to Make Savory Granola
This savory granola recipe comes together quickly and easily!
Add all ingredients to a bowl and toss until combined.
Spread the granola onto a rimmed baking sheet and bake for 20 minutes, stirring halfway through, until browned.
Let it cool, then transfer to an air tight container. Enjoy!
Savory Granola Substitution Ideas
- You can substitute the almonds for a different nut (I would suggest chopping larger nuts like walnuts or pecans), or substitute with more seeds if there is a nut allergy.
- Feel free to use any combination of nuts and/or seeds you like, just make sure you keep the total volume to about 2 ½ cups.
- You could leave out the egg white if there is an allergy, but your granola won’t stick together in clumps but instead be more like a loose cereal.
