First of all, meet my brother:
I wouldn’t say he’s a health food advocate (ok, not really at all. Although his wife does keep him in line.) but when our family got together, he announced he’d be making his “world famous guacamole” for us. Obviously, I was excited because 1. I love guacamole and 2. I don’t think I’ve ever seen my brother make anything but popcorn and macaroni and cheese.
He picked out his ingredients, and started chopping things up in the kitchen.
It was only a few moments after he put the bowl on the table, when we all went crazy for it. It’s some seriously delicious stuff, and it’s also simple enough to be added to the “5-ingredients or less” recipe list!
Mark’s World Famous Guacamole
- 4 avocados
- 1/2 purple onion
- 1 lime
- 1 jalapeno
- salt
He scooped out the flesh of the guacamole, and mashed it all up. Then he diced the onion and the jalapeno. For our family, he only added half the jalapeno, but on his own, I’m sure he throws it all in. (My brother and I share a love of hot sauce.) Then he just squeezed in the juice from the lime, and added salt to taste. So easy, but so delicious.
This recipe is so simple, but so delicious. I have no idea why people think guacamole has to be complicated. I’ll definitely be recreating this at home soon.
And now, I’m heading out for a run with Brittany! I’m more excised than usual, since it’s finally cool enough for me to wear my new Lululemon running capris
It feels good to be starting the week off with a run! (Even though morning runs generally only happen if I have someone holding me accountable…)

just like a brother to not smile in the blog photo!
Hahaha I know, right?!
Sounds like my brother, lol! i looove avocados, so this is definitely right up my alley :_
I love guacamole!! Can’t wait to try this one
And you have to laugh since its Mark’s recipe
maybe his kitchen duties in Arizona paid off after all!!
I love both. Can I love both? I know this is cheating… lol
That’s not cheating, that’s just picking the best answer
Both!! I’ll be buying avocados later this morning.
I’m horrible at buying avocados! They either aren’t ripe enough when I try to use them, or I forget them until I have to toss them out!
Try putting them in the fridge – it’ll slow the ripening process. I generally keep mine out on the countertop until they’re just about ready and then in the fridge to slow things down (and buy some time!) If you’re anything like me, you probably hate wasting food, so I’m always looking for ways to prolong their lifespan. Hope this helps!
Thank you for the tip!! I’m going to try that
this looks so yumm!!
LOVE guac. Like just love it! Great simple recipe too – go aheadddd bro!
You and brother are so cute! I love to have a nice and simple guac recipe on hand. Thanks for sharing!
oh YUM! I think i need to make that soon! looks so simple and delish! love it!
HI BROTHER!! My bro never smiles in my pics either. What a butt head. Anyway, LOVE the focus on avocados in a guac recipe!! Most take away from the avocados in my opinion by adding things like cream cheese or sour cream. YUCK
Ewww why do people insist on ruining perfectly good things?! haha
I love how simple guac can be. I definitely prefer it over salsa!
Of course I am guacamole all the way Liz! Your brother is on to something with this combo and I am going to give this a try for sure! Fab! Enjoy your run!
guacamole ALWAYS. yum yum yum
Guac!!! Yum! Love the simplicity of this recipe
The guacamole sounds delish! I love the simplicity of it. Avocado is so tasty on it’s own. No need to add a ton of ingredients!
Love the capris!!! Hope it was a good run
Well I love guac. I love salso. So out of the two I say…..combine them and enjoy
I always say that if I could have a single condiment for the rest of my life, it would be salsa. That being said, guac is a fantastic treat now and then, but I could have salsa on everything. That being said, your man cuts onions WELL and I think I like that most of all from this post.
I love how brothers are always so serious in photos, mine is exactly the same
Hope your run went well! Gotta get me some of those capris…Lulu is a Canadian company, eh?
nothing beast guacamole! the best stuff out there!
Yum! I also add a little garlic salt and freshly ground pepper.
I’m definitely a guac girl, though I love salsa too! And it’s definitely the simpler the better when it comes to guacamole!
We must be long lost BFF’s! Guac & Lululemon are in my top favorites. I dig your new Capri’s. Oh and I sub onion powder. I just can’t do raw onions.
I am a huge guacamole fan
Most of the time I like to keep it simple, but sometimes I like to make it a little fancy
My favorite is super chunky guacamole! It’s like having the best of both worlds…salsa and guac! Yum!
Can I like both guac AND salsa? I like it chunky, with tomatoes added, but your brother’s recipe is really what they make in Mexico (at least from the region where I visited). If you are blessed with the ability to pick out great avocados, you don’t need to add much.
