If you’re looking for an easy smoothie recipe but you want something that will really fill you up and keep you energized, this blueberry cheesecake smoothie is the answer! The cottage cheese makes this recipe super thick and creamy but no one would ever guess it’s the secret ingredient! It’s packed with protein so this is a great post-workout smoothie! If you’re looking for a vegan option, try this blueberry pie smoothie bowl.
TIPS FOR THE PERFECT SMOOTHIE BOWL
- To make your smoothie extra thick, be sure the blueberries are frozen before blending.
- If you have trouble blending your smoothie, add an extra splash of almond milk to get things moving. Add a little bit at a time until it begins to blend. Adding too much liquid will water down the smoothie.
- Pour into a wide, shallow bowl so there is extra room for toppings!
Substitution Ideas
- If you don’t have cottage cheese on hand, you can use unsweetened Greek yogurt. It’ll still add creaminess and protein.
- For extra protein, you can add a scoop of your favorite vanilla protein powder. You’ll want to reduce the sweetener to taste.
- Feel free to swap in frozen strawberries or frozen raspberries in place of the blueberries.

I’m actually not usually a fan of cottage cheese. I’m much more of a Greek yogurt girl, but cottage cheese works so well in this recipe! It makes the smoothie so creamy and it’s loaded with protein! This would also work well with strawberries or raspberries and you could certainly use the Blue Diamond Almond Breeze vanilla flavor instead of the regular flavor. So many options!
You can also have fun with your toppings! Need more ideas? Here are my favorite smoothie bowl toppings!

Ooh cottage cheese? I’ve never put that in a smoothie before, but I actually really love it. And it’s always a good time for a smoothie!
The ONLY time I eat cottage cheese is when its either blended into a smoothie or baked into my lasagna recipe. I don’t like the curds at all, but I do love the thickness it gives smoothies!!
Sounds like a great treat after shoveling snow! Stay warm and enjoy the snow for me- I miss it. 🙂
I’ve never tried adding cottage cheese to a smoothie but it sounds like it would be so good in this one!
My favorite saying is “smoothies know no season” haha. I am all about smoothies anytime of year. I am often curled up in a blanket in the winter sipping on a smoothie because it’s worth it!
Yum! I looooove cottage cheese. It doesn’t matter what the temperature is if I’m eating the smoothie indoors 😉
This sounds lovely! I hate cottage cheese but I’m thinking in addition to Greek yogurt maybe a tablespoon of cream cheese would give it the cheesecake flavor? Either way I’m all for it!
It is never too cold for smoothies! No matter how much snow there is outside I still have my smoothies 🙂 This smoothie looks so good!
