If you’re looking for an easy smoothie recipe but you want something that will really fill you up and keep you energized, this blueberry cheesecake smoothie is the answer! The cottage cheese makes this recipe super thick and creamy but no one would ever guess it’s the secret ingredient! It’s packed with protein so this is a great post-workout smoothie! If you’re looking for a vegan option, try this blueberry pie smoothie bowl.
TIPS FOR THE PERFECT SMOOTHIE BOWL
- To make your smoothie extra thick, be sure the blueberries are frozen before blending.
- If you have trouble blending your smoothie, add an extra splash of almond milk to get things moving. Add a little bit at a time until it begins to blend. Adding too much liquid will water down the smoothie.
- Pour into a wide, shallow bowl so there is extra room for toppings!
Substitution Ideas
- If you don’t have cottage cheese on hand, you can use unsweetened Greek yogurt. It’ll still add creaminess and protein.
- For extra protein, you can add a scoop of your favorite vanilla protein powder. You’ll want to reduce the sweetener to taste.
- Feel free to swap in frozen strawberries or frozen raspberries in place of the blueberries.

I’m actually not usually a fan of cottage cheese. I’m much more of a Greek yogurt girl, but cottage cheese works so well in this recipe! It makes the smoothie so creamy and it’s loaded with protein! This would also work well with strawberries or raspberries and you could certainly use the Blue Diamond Almond Breeze vanilla flavor instead of the regular flavor. So many options!
You can also have fun with your toppings! Need more ideas? Here are my favorite smoothie bowl toppings!
