How to Make Yellow Rice in a Rice Cooker
If you’re looking for a simple and flavorful side dish, this yellow rice recipe is perfect! With minimal prep and a handful of pantry staples, you can make deliciously fluffy yellow rice right in your rice cooker.

I’ve been having fun making different rice recipes in my rice cooker and this yellow rice is a new favorite! It’s easy to make with just a few spices, and it’s a great way to add flavor to a simple side dish. I’ve been enjoying this rice as a side dish with my channa masala, but it works with a variety of dishes!
Ingredients & Substitutions
- White rice– Long-grain or basmati works best, but you could use brown rice if you prefer.
- Vegetable broth– I used Better Than Boullion vegetable base.
- Turmeric– This is what gives the rice its signature color and flavor, so there isn’t a substitute for this. Be sure your ground turmeric is fresh for the best flavor.
- Onion powder and garlic powder– These add a little extra savory flavor.
Health Benefits of Turmeric
Turmeric offers numerous health benefits due to its potent anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. It can support joint and heart health, enhance brain function, boost the immune system, and help with digestion. Turmeric also promotes skin health and can help regulate blood sugar. It’s such a great ingredient to add to your diet! If you’re looking for another way to use turmeric, try my immunity-boosting soup.
