Cottage Cheese Cinnamon Rolls
These soft and fluffy cinnamon rolls are perfectly sweet and secretly healthy! Made with just a few ingredients, this is a healthy twist on a classic treat!

Cottage cheese has done it again! I’m always amazed at how this simple ingredient can work in so many ways! These soft and fluffy cinnamon rolls are so delicious, you’d never guess that each one is packed with 7g of protein!
Ingredients & Substitutions
- Self-Rising Flour– If you donโt have self-rising flour, you can use all-purpose flour. Use one cup of all-purpose flour mixed with 1 1/2 teaspoons of baking powder and 1/4 teaspoon of salt.
- Cottage cheeseโ You can use low-fat or full-fat cottage cheese โ either one works great. You can use plain Greek yogurt if you donโt have cottage cheese.
- Coconut oil– This adds a little richness to the filling. You can substitute with melted butter, if you prefer.
- Cinnamon– Obviously, you need ground cinnamon to make cinnamon rolls!
- Powdered sugar- A little powdered sugar makes a sweet glaze for these cinnamon rolls.
How to Make Self-Rising Flour
If you donโt have self-rising flour, you can make your own! Combine 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour, 2 1/4 teaspoons baking powder and 1/2 teaspoon salt. This will make slightly more than 1 1/2 cups of self rising flour, which is all you’ll need for this recipe.

- 1 1/2 cups self-rising flour (see note)
- 2 tablespoons coconut oil, melted
- 3 tablespoons brown sugar or coconut sugar
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/3 cup powdered sugar
- 1–2 teaspoons milk
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Spray a small baking dish with non-stick spray. (I used a 6×8 dish)
- Blend the cottage cheese in a blender or food processor until mostly smooth.
- In a bowl, combine the blended cottage cheese and self rising flour until a ball forms.
- Roll the dough out on parchment paper into a thin sheet. (It should be about 10×12)
- In a small bowl, combine the coconut oil, brown sugar, and cinnamon.
- Sprinkle the brown sugar mixture over the dough.
- Roll the dough into a log and slice into 1 ยฝโ pieces. It should make 6 cinnamon rolls. (You can discard the uneven edges.)
- Bake for 30-32 minutes, or until the edges and tops begin to brown.
- While the rolls are cooling, whisk together the powdered sugar and milk in a small bowl until smooth. Adjust the milk for your desired consistency.
- Let the cinnamon rolls cool for 5-10 minutes before drizzling the glaze over the top. Serve warm and enjoy!

Can I use something other than coconut oil, I realllllly don’t like it
I think melted butter would work!
