Baked Goat Cheese Salads
Leafy greens are topped with breaded medallions of baked goat cheese for a delicious and filling recipe that is perfect for a light lunch or appetizer!

We eat a lot of salads around here because it’s an easy way to get in leafy greens and a variety of vegetables. But salads don’t always feel particularly special. That is until they’re topped with baked goat cheese! This recipe is simple but it feels a little fancy, like something you’d order at a little cafe.
All you need is goat cheese, flour, egg, breadcrumbs, your favorite mixed greens, and a simple vinaigrette dressing. (Don’t worry, I have plenty of easy dressing recipes for you!)

How to Make Baked Goat Cheese
Slice a log of goat cheese into 1/4″ slices. Be sure not to make them too thin or they make crumble. Gently dip the goat cheese slices into flour, then an egg wash. Shake off excess egg. Dip into breadcrumbs.

Lay on a baking sheet and bake until browned.
Tips & Tricks
- You must use a log of goat cheese, not goat cheese crumbles. Otherwise, there’s no way to add the breading. If you only have goat cheese crumbled, try this Strawberry Goat Cheese Salad.
- It’s not completely necessary to freeze the goat cheese for 30 minutes, but it does make it easier to cut into slices. If you don’t have time to freeze it, be sure you’re using a very sharp knife to cut the cheese. I recommend wiping it off with a clean cloth in between each cut so it doesn’t get sticky.
- I used plain goat cheeese but you can use an herbed goat cheese if you like. A garlic and herb goat cheese would be delicious in this recipe!
The Best Dressing for a Goat Cheese Salad
I recommend using this easy balsamic vinaigrette recipe, which pairs well with creamy goat cheese. It would also be delicious with this red wine vinegar dressing. If you want to grab a store-bought dressing, look for a simple vinaigrette.
