I love green beans and cooking them in the air fryer is so fast and easy! It gives you the delicious browning that you get from roasting, but with less oil and in less time!

Air Fryer Benefits

If you’re not familiar with air fryer cooking, it works like a convection-style oven. The “fryer” circulates hot air around a metal basket which creates a crispy outer layer. This allows you to cook foods with minimal oil. I recommend using an olive oil spray for recipes like this because it allows you to use less oil while evenly coating the vegetables. Too much oil can make the beans soggy, but a little bit of oil adds flavor and promotes browning.

Types of Green Beans

For this recipe, I recommend using fresh green beans. Canned green beans are already cooked, and they’ll get too mushy in the air fryer. Although frozen green beans aren’t typically pre-cooked, they still don’t work as well as fresh green beans. You can usually buy fresh green beans in bulk in the produce section, or you may find pre-washed and trimmed green beans in the bagged produce section.

How to Make Lemon Aioli

In a small dish, whisk together 1 tablespoon mayonnaise, 1/2 teaspoon lemon juice, 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder, and a pinch of salt and pepper. You can serve it on the side or drizzle it on top of the green beans. (You may need to add a splash of water, in order to drizzle it over the beans.)

To make a vegan aioli, use vegan mayonnaise. You can also serve these green beans without any sauce. They’ll still have plenty of flavor!
