This creamy orange ginger smoothie is the perfect way to cool off during these hot summer days! Iโ€™m so excited to share this recipe with you because itโ€™s quick and easy, but so tasty! Iโ€™ve partnered with Patient First to create a healthy recipe that contains lots of wholesome ingredients, including nutritious spices! This smoothie contains ginger and turmeric. Ginger can help with digestion, and turmeric can help with inflammation. Dr. Melisa Aquilo, Medical Director at Patient First Mechanicsville, says, โ€œ Ginger is great for relieving nausea and helping with natural digestion, while turmeric is known to help reduce inflammation. These natural ingredients are both delicious and beneficial for your health.โ€ You can read more about the benefits of these spices on the Patient First blog.

Patient First has been my go-to urgent care ever since my first DIY mishap when I first moved to Richmond! Now, as the mom of a very active toddler, I love that theyโ€™re open every day including weekends and holidays, and they even have telehealth options, too! Ingredients & Substitutions

  • Orange juice- This adds a little bit of sweetness and some vitamin C! For a tropical twist, you could switch things up by using pineapple juice.
  • Greek yogurt– This is an easy way to add lots of protein and it gives this smoothie a rich and creamy flavor. Greek yogurt is also a great source of probiotics that are good for gut health!
  • Pineapple– Frozen pineapple adds sweetness and helps create a thick, creamy texture. If you donโ€™t have frozen pineapple, you could swap it out for frozen banana instead.
  • Turmeric– A little turmeric is a great way to add some healthy spice to your breakfast!
  • Ginger– Fresh ginger is a great source of antioxidants and it adds a slightly spicy kick to this smoothie.
  • Black pepper- Just a tiny pinch of black pepper helps aid in the absorption of turmeric.

Tips & Tricks

  • If you want to add even more protein, try adding a scoop of vanilla protein powder.
  • I recommend blending the protein powder with the orange juice and yogurt until it is completely combined, then adding the remaining ingredients.

How to Grate Fresh Ginger

I like using fresh ginger in this recipe. Use a spoon to peel the ginger. Then use a microplane or rasp grater to finely grate the ginger. You could substitute with ยผ teaspoon of ground ginger, if desired.

This list of immunity-boosting ingredients from Patient First gave me some inspiration to create this healthy smoothie recipe that is filled with good ingredients.
