Loving Virginia
This state is amazing. I’ve been here for about 3 & 1/2 years now, and Virginia feels like home. Fall has always been my favorite season, but Virginia in the fall is truly breathtaking. What better way to enjoy this great state than visit some of the gorgeous wineries, right?
Saturday afternoon, I spent the day in Charlottesville with some of my favorite girls. The car ride was filled with girly conversation and our entire afternoon was documented with Instagrams. It was a perfect day.
We stopped at three vineyards: Pippin Hill Farm, Trump Winery, & The Jefferson Vineyards.
Pippin Hill had the most spectacular views, but the bartender at Trump was our favorite, and we split a bottle of Viognier at the Jefferson Vineyards, which is my favorite! I’m so lucky that I can surround myself with such amazing, sweet, gorgeous girls!
After an adventurous afternoon, I stopped by my house, grabbed a cup of coffee, and ran out the door to meet Brittany for dinner. The lovely team at Kitchen on Cary invited us to a soft opening sort of dinner. (I’d been there once before, which you can read about here.)
We spent the hours chatting about Richmond, work, blogging, and of course… food. We both chose the Arugula and Goat Cheese salad for a starter, and I had a roasted vegetable sandwich while Brittany enjoyed the Sea Bass. Both of us really liked our meals (that salad was amazing!) and the service was great. They officially open on Monday, so if you’re in the Richmond area, give them a try!
Alex has been out of town all weekend, so I pretty much had a jam packed girls weekend. I guess I made the best of it, right? 😉
I’m super stoked to be moving to your beautiful state just in time for fall!! And I can’t wait to check out the wineries! Looks like you had a great weekend.
Wow Liz you look absolutely GORGEOUS IN THAT DRESS and the dress is so pretty too, so my style. *Goes to steal*
First off: that group shot of you is awesome. All of you look beautiful and I’m happy you had a fun weekend. Girls days or weekends are the best. Catching up, laughing about things boys just wouldn’t get 😉 and eating good food – so good.
I can’t decide on a favourite season because they all have their great sides. But fall might just have the most impressive sunsets [and I like these!], gorgeous coloured leaves and its overall coziness is great, too.
yay for girls weekends! your wine tasting outing looks soo fun!! i’ve been meaning to do that too, i need to find a place near boston 🙂 and i know what you mean- there’s nothing like fall on the east coast!
Love wine tasting in Charlottesville, so much fun! I definitely need to make it up there this Fall. Last trip we visited First Colony, VA Wineworks (M. Shaps), Blenheim and Trump winery. Was a huge fan of the Wineworks wines and atmosphere at both Blenheim and Trump! Pippen Hill is next up on my to-try list 🙂 Glad you had such a fab time, looks like such a fun trip!
Mm totally loving the sound of that goat cheese salad! Have you tried pairing goat cheese with beetroot- the combo is too die for :)! My favorite season is summer, as it usually involves travel of some sort….and loooots of berries & fro yo ;)!
Oh! I still haven’t tried that combo! I did try feta + beets and that was good! I bet goat cheese would be amazing!
Virginia truly is an amazing State. Joshua & I lived in VA Beach before coming out here to Kuwait, and always tell one another that once we’re done here, we’ll be moving back there.
Glad you had such a wonderful weekend with all your favorite ladies. I am in love with your black laced dress. Where’d you get it if you don’t mind me asking?
If you move back, you’ll have to join Virginia Bloggers 🙂 Such a great community here! I actually got my dress at Ross last year (for like $15 bucks!)
I was just thinking this morning how I take for granted his beautiful virginia is in the fall. So jealous of your wine tasting!
It’s such a perfect fall activity!
Oh I just love blogger meet ups! AND I can seriously only imagine how beautiful the trees are in Virginia right now. So jealous! Your weekend looks perfect.
All of your girls are gorgeous, what a great picture that is, especially with the stunning background! Also, love your dress, very cute 🙂
I do like fall a lot, I just don’t enjoy the fact that it turns into winter death lol
Haha yeah I try not to focus on what’s coming after fall 😉 Luckily the weather here isn’t too bad in the winter, either!
