Loving Virginia
This state is amazing. I’ve been here for about 3 & 1/2 years now, and Virginia feels like home. Fall has always been my favorite season, but Virginia in the fall is truly breathtaking. What better way to enjoy this great state than visit some of the gorgeous wineries, right?
Saturday afternoon, I spent the day in Charlottesville with some of my favorite girls. The car ride was filled with girly conversation and our entire afternoon was documented with Instagrams. It was a perfect day.
We stopped at three vineyards: Pippin Hill Farm, Trump Winery, & The Jefferson Vineyards.
Pippin Hill had the most spectacular views, but the bartender at Trump was our favorite, and we split a bottle of Viognier at the Jefferson Vineyards, which is my favorite! I’m so lucky that I can surround myself with such amazing, sweet, gorgeous girls!
After an adventurous afternoon, I stopped by my house, grabbed a cup of coffee, and ran out the door to meet Brittany for dinner. The lovely team at Kitchen on Cary invited us to a soft opening sort of dinner. (I’d been there once before, which you can read about here.)
We spent the hours chatting about Richmond, work, blogging, and of course… food. We both chose the Arugula and Goat Cheese salad for a starter, and I had a roasted vegetable sandwich while Brittany enjoyed the Sea Bass. Both of us really liked our meals (that salad was amazing!) and the service was great. They officially open on Monday, so if you’re in the Richmond area, give them a try!
Alex has been out of town all weekend, so I pretty much had a jam packed girls weekend. I guess I made the best of it, right? 😉
What a gorgeous group of girls! Pippin Hill is definitely one of my favorites for the views and gorgeous tasting room!
Every time that I drive through Virginia, I always mention how I’d like to visit some of the wineries 🙂 It looks like you had a really nice time. There are few things better than drinking wine with friends! Also, my favorite season is BY FAR fall 🙂 Love everything about it (the weather, foods, decorations, movies, events) and I think Ohio is a great place to be for the changing trees!
I love Ohio in the fall as well! (Plus fall comes around a little sooner… it’s getting back up to the 80s this week, here!)
Great photos! Enjoy some extra wine for me. 😉
Your pictures are beautiful! Looks like you girls had a great time.
It is always nice spending some quality time with girlfriends!
I love Virginia in the fall too! Love your outfit for the Saturday C-ville trip!
I totally had no idea you were in Virginia, I do miss that place. Especially Charlottesville. I would always drive there in college to get out of the little college town in VA. Looks like a great weekend
It’s kind of crazy how quickly Virginia felt like home!
Beautiful pictures! I absolutely love living on the east coast during the fall, which is my favorite season. The weather is sweater-perfect, and who doesn’t love to snuggle up and eat apple/pumpkin everything?? Your meals also look delicious!
I could not agree more! Bring on the sweaters!
This really makes me miss VA a lot. I love all the wine tours you can go on there. I think my favorite one was in Charlottesville myself!
That winery tour looks beautiful! 🙂
I’ve just been here five years and I’m still finding new corners of the state to fall in love with. My husband and I escaped to Mathews this past weekend and it was such a perfect little getaway. I keep telling myself I need to do one of the winery tours, but this seals the deal!
You should definitely check them out! They’re so lovely in the fall!
