Dark Chocolate Avocado Truffles
These dark chocolate truffles have a hidden, healthy ingredient: avocado! They’re so rich and chocolatey, no one would ever guess they’re secretly healthy!
I love desserts that hide secretly healthy ingredients! Just like these chocolate avocado cookies, no one would ever guess there is avocado in these truffles! These dark chocolate avocado truffles only take a few minutes to whip up and they’re gluten-free and vegan.
Avocado Truffle Ingredients
- Avocado– You’ll need a ripe avocado that is nice and soft. Be sure it’s not overly ripe. It should blend easily but it shouldn’t be mushy.
- Chocolate chips– If you want to keep this recipe vegan, be sure to use dairy free chocolate chips.
- Coconut oil– This is optional but it helps the chocolate melt smoothly.
- Salt– A pinch of salt balances out the sweetness.
- Cocoa powder– Roll the finished truffles in cocoa powder so they’re easier to eat.
How to Make Avocado Truffles
- Be sure your avocado is ripe, meaning it should give slightly when squeezed. If your avocado is overly ripe, it can give off a banana flavor. You want it just ripe enough to be soft but not on the verge of going rotten.
- Use a food processor for the best consistency. This helps blend the truffles completely, so there are no pieces of visible avocado.
- Place it in the fridge for a few hours to let it firm up, so it’s easy to roll.
- Roll in cocoa powder or coconut flakes!
It’s almost crazy how easy these dark chocolate avocado truffles are! And a dessert recipe that only requires 5 ingredients? Yes, please. This is a good one to make when you’re low on groceries or you have half an avocado lying around.
How to Store Avocado Truffles
Store these truffles in an airtight container in the fridge, as they tend to soften at room temperature. I do not recommend freezing these, as they’ll be too hard to eat.
