Cottage Cheese Pesto
Turn your favorite pesto into a high-protein meal with this cottage cheese pesto! It’s easy to make with just a few ingredients, and no one will know it’s secretly healthy!

Ok, I might have a little obsession with cottage cheese. While I don’t really eat it on its own, I love how it magically blends into pasta sauce, salad dressings, and dips. To make this one even more nutritious, I added a few handfuls of spinach right into the sauce. Trust me, no one will know!

My Favorite Storebought Pesto
The real trick to this simple sauce is using prepared pesto.ย My favorite store bought pesto isย Buitoniโs Pesto,ย which has a great flavor that tastes homemade. Americaโs Test Kitchen recommended it and Iโm glad I tried it! It has a really well-balanced flavor, and it works great in this recipe. If you want to try making it yourself, try my walnut pesto!

How to Blend Cottage Cheese
Make sure youย blend the cottage cheeseย reallyย well so your pesto is nice and smooth.ย I used a mini food processor. You can also do this with an immersion blender. If you only have a large blender or food processor, you may want to blend 2 cups of cottage cheese before adding the pesto, then divide it in half. Use the other half of the blended cottage cheese forย pizza crust,ย pasta, orย pancakes!

Description
Turn your favorite pesto into a high-protein sauce with this cottage cheese pesto! It’s easy to make with just a few ingredients, and no one will know it’s secretly healthy!
Ingredients
- 1 cup cottage cheese (I recommend Good Culture 4% or 2%)
- 1/2 cup pesto
- 1/4 cup spinach (optional)
Instructions
- Add the cottage cheese, pesto, and spinach to a blender and blend until smooth.
- Serve with your favorite pasta.
Notes
The brand of cottage cheese matters a lot. Some storebought brands are overly sour and can give the pasta a sour taste. I recommend Good Culture because it’s well-balanced with a creamy, subtle flavor.
This is enough sauce to pair with 8oz of pasta.
