What I Ate: Across Virginia
This past weekend was so. much. fun. It went by way too fast, as all great weekends tend to do. Saturday morning, I woke up in Virginia Beach with my lovely friends Alexa & Holly. Holly and I were visiting Alexa for the weekend and it was so nice having some girl time!
When we woke up after a crazy night of Netflix, pumpkin dip, and a marathon of Fixer Upper, we had a lazy morning of coffee and apple slices. Once we got the motivation to put on real pants, we grabbed food at adorable little place called Taste. It was one of those cute little markets where you order at the front but you shop around and look at all the specialty foods while you wait. I love places like this!
I had my eye on a sandwich but when I saw a fall salad option, I couldn’t resist! Remember that amazing salad I told you about on Monday? This was it.
It was spinach, arugula, butternut squash, carrots, goat cheese, dried cranberries, and cinnamon sugar roasted pumpkin seeds. SO delicious. I ate every last bite!
After lunch, we went to a local coffee shop for a quick caffeine boost and then we did a bit of shopping. It was the perfect girls day! Later on, I hopped in the car and drove back to Richmond just in time to go to Bottoms Up for dinner with a few friends!
This place has awesome pizza but we don’t head downtown very often so I hadn’t had it for awhile. Alex and I split a “Goat in the Garden” pizza which I loved.
This pizza was tomato sauce, goat cheese, mozzarella, spinach, and roasted garlic. Normally I’m a thin crust fan but I love the thick crust at Bottoms Up!
After we were all stuffed with pizza, we grabbed some hot chocolate and went on an Erie Nights ghost tour around downtown.
It was basically a long walk around Richmond with someone who told us urban legends along the way. It was really fun! It was also much colder than usual here in Richmond so we did have to bundle up a bit!
Overall, it was awesome weekend full of delicious food and great friends! Fall in Virginia is such a wonderful time, I hope it hangs around for awhile!
Have you ever done a walking tour?
(Alex and I have done a food tour in Richmond, a history tour in Charleston, and now a ghost tour!)
I’m linking up with What I Ate Wednesday!
Butternut Squash in salads = ON POINTT!!!
Looks like a lot of fun! VA Beach is great! Cool blog by the way.
That tour sounds like so much fun! I’ve gotta look into whether we have something like that near us. How fun! And that salad….YUM!
The salad looks amazing!!! 🙂
Walking tours always intrigue me as they can show you a city you might have known for a long time in a very different light. I haven’t done enough of those yet but when I do I genuinely enjoy them – learning made fun!
I’ve probably said before that I’m not easily interested in salad but yours here sounds really good and packed with all the goodies.
Sounds like so much fun! That pizza looks amazing!
xo,
Angela
I love ghost walking tours! We used to do one every year in Cape May when I was a kid. Looks like you had a ton of fun!
That really does sound like the perfect girls weekend! I really want to dig into that salad… It looks wonderful!
I love exploring a place on foot, but I’ve never had a formal walking tour. Something to add to my list!
I have to admit the food tour has been my favorite 😉
I wouldn’t have been able to resist that salad either. Say goat cheese and I’m there! A walking tour sounds so fun, especially a Halloween themed one!
This looks like it was such a lovely weekend! I wish I could try every single thing you ate. That pizza will be haunting me the rest of the day. So glad you had a great time!
