What I Ate: Across Virginia
This past weekend was so. much. fun. It went by way too fast, as all great weekends tend to do. Saturday morning, I woke up in Virginia Beach with my lovely friends Alexa & Holly. Holly and I were visiting Alexa for the weekend and it was so nice having some girl time!
When we woke up after a crazy night of Netflix, pumpkin dip, and a marathon of Fixer Upper, we had a lazy morning of coffee and apple slices. Once we got the motivation to put on real pants, we grabbed food at adorable little place called Taste. It was one of those cute little markets where you order at the front but you shop around and look at all the specialty foods while you wait. I love places like this!
I had my eye on a sandwich but when I saw a fall salad option, I couldn’t resist! Remember that amazing salad I told you about on Monday? This was it.
It was spinach, arugula, butternut squash, carrots, goat cheese, dried cranberries, and cinnamon sugar roasted pumpkin seeds. SO delicious. I ate every last bite!
After lunch, we went to a local coffee shop for a quick caffeine boost and then we did a bit of shopping. It was the perfect girls day! Later on, I hopped in the car and drove back to Richmond just in time to go to Bottoms Up for dinner with a few friends!
This place has awesome pizza but we don’t head downtown very often so I hadn’t had it for awhile. Alex and I split a “Goat in the Garden” pizza which I loved.
This pizza was tomato sauce, goat cheese, mozzarella, spinach, and roasted garlic. Normally I’m a thin crust fan but I love the thick crust at Bottoms Up!
After we were all stuffed with pizza, we grabbed some hot chocolate and went on an Erie Nights ghost tour around downtown.
It was basically a long walk around Richmond with someone who told us urban legends along the way. It was really fun! It was also much colder than usual here in Richmond so we did have to bundle up a bit!
Overall, it was awesome weekend full of delicious food and great friends! Fall in Virginia is such a wonderful time, I hope it hangs around for awhile!
Have you ever done a walking tour?
(Alex and I have done a food tour in Richmond, a history tour in Charleston, and now a ghost tour!)
I’m linking up with What I Ate Wednesday!
I love taste! I wish they had more of them. There is one about five minutes from my house (Taste is a mini-chain store in Hampton Roads and I live about thirty minutes from VA Beach) and they have the best salads!
The weekends always fly by way too fast in my opinion. It looks like you made the most of a fun filled weekend!
What a fun weekend! Love it when friends come to visit. And that pizza…it looks delicious!
That salad looks delish! I love all t he ghost tours happening right now.
between that salad and pizza I sure am glad I am eating this while I am eating breakfast – they look amazing! I am always a sucker for ordering anything with goat cheese – love that stuff
sure glad I am eating breakfast while I am reading this** was what I meant to say 🙂
Aw, what a lovely sounding day!! That salad.. AND that pizza.. have my name allll over them. To all the goat cheese!!
That salad looks DELICIOUS, I want one!
I love Taste! We have one in Newport News and their sandwiches are amazing. Bottoms Up makes me miss living in Richmond too.
Williamsburg has a bunch of those ghost tours pretty much year-round. I’ve never actually done it, but I see them all the time!
I love salads like that and the pizza looks delicious! I haven’t done a walking tour but there are lots of food tours on the lower east side that I have considered – especially the dessert tour!
Algriht alright alright that’s exactly what I needed!
As you know I’m originally from VA Beach and I love it. There are so many cute and local restaurants down there…it’s hard not to enjoy it. I do agree that fall in Virginia is one of my favorites…there is literally every season you can possibly imagine!
