Which Came First?…
I actually don’t really care which came first, the chicken or the egg. (Although for the record, I’m on the chicken’s side. Who else would have incubated the egg?) Anyways, the point is, I don’t like chicken but I do like eggs. Or I did.
The other night I made some soy chorizo with egg whites, and, while it tasted good… I felt weird about eating it.
In my head I was telling myself “Stop being weird, they’re just egg whites.” And then the other half of my brain was like “Ew… gross… you’re eating egg whites. That’s like… an unborn chicken… blehhhhhh” (Wait, you don’t have these sort of arguments in your head?) The depressing part is this dish tasted good!
It was about 1/3 cup TJ’s soy chorizo with about 1/3 cup of egg whites, stir fried in a little olive oil. I think I stirred in some nutritional yeast as well.
So now I’m trying to decide what to do with eggs. For some reason, they don’t really bother me when they are in things, but there is something about eating them “whole” that kind of freaks me out. Does that make any sense?!
I want to like eggs. They’re such a good source of protein and nutrients. But I think eggs and I are going to take a break for awhile. (Besides, me & flaxseed eggs are tight, yo.)
Do you have any weird attitude toward certain foods? Am I the only crazy person out there? Do you eat eggs?
<3 Liz
I gotta say, I love eggs, haha! But if you need to take a break then that will be good for you. You gotta do what’s best for your body and mind. 🙂
I love eggs! I think taking a break from them might help you get over your fear!
I really don’t have any weird attitudes toward certain foods. The only thing I can think of is sushi. I’ll eat any sushi with cooked fish but I just can’t eat the raw sushi rolls. The texture just makes my stomach turn and I always get a tummy ache from it.
I do eat eggs, but I know the feeling you’re having. Personally, I try to force myself not to think about it haha, or I end up not eating eggs for weeks!
I LOVE eggs, but I totally get why youd feel wierd about eating them. Im the same way with meat on the bone. I cant handle it at all. I love chicken, but I REFUSE to eat if off the bone. I only by boneless and skinless chicken, and I never order meat at a restaurant because I dont trust it!
P.s. a trick for the egg is to stir an entire whisked egg into your oats towards the end of cooking. Keep stirring until it forms an almost whipped texture. Delicious and totally unnoticable!
I obviously don’t eat eggs but I totally know what you are saying. I felt so horrible eating animal products so I had to stop. People tell me I should eat just eggs and fish for the nutrients but I just can’t even if I wanted too… :/

I know exactly what you mean! I can’t eat meat, and I don’t eat a lot of dairy, but sometimes I wish I LIKED things like eggs, because they can be a good source of nutrients!
I don’t like to think about stuff like that. Because if I thought hard enough, I’m pretty sure I’d convince myself out of eating pretty much anything… ha ha
Sometimes I feel that way about eggs. I have trouble with cow milk sometimes too. I usually separate myself from those foods for a while. I don’t really drink cows milk anymore because I prefer almond, but if it’s in something it’s not a big deal.
I love eggs especially over white rice. It’s what I grew up eating so I’m use to it. Some foods I do feel weird about eating like a steak. Kinda icky. One time I tried deer and the whole time I thought I was eating Bambi, how depressing. Let’s just say never again lol
There are certain foods that I will ONLY eat in a certain way, like for instance, Tofu. I eat it IN things, not just by itself. 🙂
I feel the same way about eggs. I don’t mind them in dishes, and sometimes I will make an egg or egg whites, but the whole time I’m eating it I’m thinking about what it is I’m eating. I’m not sure what I’m going to do just yet. I don’t really eat eggs that often, so maybe I’ll just suffer through the thoughts while I enjoy my egg. 🙂
Hahaha so I’m not the only one who thinks about things like this?! I feel much better!! 🙂
