What I [Now] Eat Wednesday
I used to be the pickiest eater ever.
Breakfast was Cinnamon Toast Crunch. Lunch was Kraft Macaroni and Cheese. Dinner was (hopefully) pasta, with just a little bit of sauce, followed by a package of ritz crackers for a snack.
Uh, carbs much? But I didn’t care. Not to mention I was an active kid, who was always small for her age. Ah, how I’ll miss that metabolism 😉
That, my friends, is the face of a little carboholic.
I guess I’m still rocking the bangs.

Well I’m still loving CTC, but now it’s more of a “treat” than a breakfast food. And, well, you know how I feel about Kraft now. Pasta for dinner just doesn’t happen that often, unless it’s loaded with veggies. It made me realize that there are so many foods I used to hate, that now I can’t imagine living without. So I can’t imagine what WIAW would look like when I was young. Oh how things change.
I used to hate yogurt.
My mom begged me to eat it because it had calcium in it, and since I refused to drink milk (ok, some things never change) it seemed like a good source of calcium. Well it is. The difference is, now it’s hard for me to go a single day without yogurt! Hence, today’s breakfast.
I didn’t like almonds. Or cashews. Or nuts in general.
My dad used to always eat a handful of cashews when he came home from work. My mom was more of an almond girl. I liked neither. Yet today, I can’t go a day without nuts, normally in the form of nut butter!
I didn’t like anything new.
Now I’ll try anything (*with the exception of meat I suppose).
Kombucha– check
Chia seeds– check
Pluot– check!! (yes, its a plum and a apricot!)
Oh and I definitely wouldn’t have eaten a green smoothie
This was a banana, soy milk, ice, stevia and a large handful of spinach… topped with granola. Holy yum!
I can’t go a day without nuts either! I had a LUNA this morning with nuts, so I got my fix!
Yes, my tastes have changed. Although not drastically. I always loved veggies, we grew up with a huge garden so it is what we ate. But I have come to love foods I wouldn’t touch such as greens, olives, pickles, etc. I have also been exposed to foods I knew nothing about such as kale, chia seeds, green smoothies, etc.
Oh and I totally miss that rocking metabolism – oh and those abs….hello where did you go! Not that I ever had a “six pack” but know you have to look for some resemblence of flatness behing the lovely baby bump and rolls! Hello having kiddos!
p.s. love pluots 🙂
I used to be a picky eater when I was younger! I didnt like bananas but now I love them!!
My tastes have massively changed – I was so fussy and would live off only a few different foods, now I like more than most people!
As a kid, I LOVED fruit…and lots of processed foods.
I only ate vegetables covered in Ranch, and I LOVED chicken nuggets.
(: Spaghetti, grilled cheese, and milk macaroni were a few faves as well.
Definitely! I used to hate shrimp…and really all fish. Also, mushrooms and spinach, which are two of my favorite veggies now. 🙂 I also used to eat a lot of chips and things, but, although I still like salty snacks on occasion, my preferences for crunchy munchies usually lean towards carrots and other veggies.
your so cute 🙂
my taste buds were pretty much the same as yours!! I was a mac and cheese LOVER, along with hot dogs!! I still love the cheesy stuff, but never eat it. And I NEVER touch hotdogs!!
Hahaha yeah it’s so funny looking back on what you loved as a child! Now I wouldn’t go near half that stuff!
Mine changed a bit too! I’m much healthier now than when I was very little because I would eat whatever my parents made or got for us. It wasn’t always too healthy! Yum I love Kombucha 😀
Haha I was the same way. Why didn’t our parents give us Kombucha or kale?? haha
I used to be quite picky! I still am (sorta) but I have grown 🙂
Isn’t it funny how much taste buds can change over time? I wasn’t too picky of an eater when I was younger, and we ate alot of different foods because my parents were into body building/healthy eating (we were eating quinoa in the 90’s, which I think is pretty cool, go Mom!) but I’d say that the range of foods that I like has broadened alot since then just by trying new things. I also think my love for veggies has grown exponentially, but most kids dont really love their veggies now do they? 😉
