What I [Actually] Ate Wednesday
First off, it’s What I Ate Wednesday, from the fabulous Jenn, who needs to find us tickets to Foster the People in Richmond so we can go together. (Got that, Jenn?)
Normally, I don’t play the WIAW game very well, because I tend to think that all my eats are boring, and I end up sharing something else. But not today. Today I’m going to do things right. So this is what I ate… on Tuesday.
Except for breakfast. Because I’ve been eating the same thing over and over. You can see it on my last WIAW post, if you really must see it again. So instead, I’ll give you my awkward “I’m so happy I don’t have to go to work, but instead I get to go paint a mural at an elementary school this morning” look.
Yep, that’s the look.
After painting, I went into work and threw together this salad, which has been my standard lunch. It’s not exciting. It’s some greens + balsamic vinegar. This was consumed with some soy crisps and a handful of cashews, courtesy of the snack cart at work.
But then there was an earthquake… and that freaked everyone out, especially me.I don’t have any pictures to show… but… it seemed important, so insert mental freak out<here>.
As soon as I get home from work, I’m usually hungry (maybe because that salad really isn’t too filling…) so I grab a snack. It’s usually either cereal or a smoothie. Today, Yesterday, it was a smoothie.
1/2 banana, 1 cup soymilk, 6 drops vanilla stevia, handful of ice, + heaping spoonful of granola. YUM.
And then “I-hate-everything-about-vegetarian-food” guy came over for dinner. And I made a vegetarian dinner.
Thankfully, I had this meal on my mind since yesterday, when I saw it over at Eat Live Run. I had a hunch that this could please even the pickiest of meat eaters.
And I was correct. I think. It’s honestly hard to tell with these meat eaters. But the plate was eaten, so I suppose that’s a win? (My apologies on the phone-camera pictures… my real camera is not being my friend right now.)
haha literally just laughed out loud at your banner!!!
Your “I hate everything vegetarian” doesn’t really seem to hate EVERYTHING vegetarian after all. Maybe that’s because you’re an awesome cook and don’t try to feed him kale chips.
And most days, I eat two eggs and salsa on toast. Mmmmm
Hahahaha I can only imagine the grief I would get if I tried to get him to eat a kale chip!
I happen to live with an I-hate-vegetarian-food guys so I am definitely saving this recipe to prove to him that veggie food can be good too! Thanks doll!
The earthquake must have been super scary! I live in LA so we’re used to that kind of thing but I can imagine how terrifying it must have been for the East Coast.
I usually eat one of two things for breakfast – oatmeal or scrambled eggs. I’m not a very good cook – obviously! 🙂
How cool you painted a mural for the school! Bet that was fun. 🙂
It was super fun! Definitely different than a day at the office! 🙂
YUM!! I try to mix things up for breakfast but usually it is the same thing. At the moment I am ok with that haha I just know what works for me and I tend to stick with it!
Everything looks delicious – especially that dinner!!
I try to eat something different for breakfast each day (note the *try* 😉 ), but I often find a breakfast I love and simply can’t stop eating it!! Lately, I’ve been having oatmeal about two days in a row, then a green monster, then back to the oatmeal for a few days, green monster, etc. But I remember a time last summer when I ate the EXACT same thing for breakfast for about a month. It just sounded so good every morning! 🙂
<3 <3
Haha I go for months and months of eating the same thing. Other than the occasional smoothie, I’ve been on a greek yogurt kick!
That dinner looks lkovely! I like to change my breakfasts up but sometimes I end up in a green smoothie trap because I love them so! 🙂
Yum to that salad! Oh and tamale pie thing. Looks quick and tasty.
I used to eat the same exact thing every morning when I was working all the time- green smoothie in a mason jar. LOVE them. Now there’s more variety because my schedule changed but I still love my smoothies in the morning.
Hi Liz,
I usually eat my oats every day followed by a green smoothie. I may switch the oats for a poached egg and toast, but gotta have my smoothie!! Your dinner looks REALLY good! 🙂
