Vegan Orange Creamsicle Smoothie Bowl
This post is sponsored by Optimum Nutrition. As always, all opinions are my own.
My smoothie bowls usually involve peanut butter or chocolate, but recently I’ve been craving fruitier citrus flavors. Maybe it’s the summer weather? Maybe it’s the heat? Either way, I decided to switch up my smoothie routine and make something a little fruitier!
This orange creamsicle smoothie bowl reminds me of those childhood popsicles with the sweet, orange outer layer and the creamy center. The best part about this creamy, dreamy smoothie is that it’s totally vegan! The trick to the creamy texture is blending a handful of cashews right into the smoothie.
I liked eating this as a smoothie bowl with lots of toppings but if you’re on the go, you could skip the toppings and pour it in a to-go cup!

While there are plenty of protein options out there, I prefer plant-based protein. I’ve tried a lot of different protein brands and obviously, it has to taste good, but the ingredients are important, too!  Optimum Nutrition recently sent me some of their Gold Standard 100% plant based protein and I was impressed with the taste and texture. I don’t use a ton of protein in my smoothies, but one scoop of this protein powder provides 24g of protein and only 1g of sugar.
This protein powder is made from organic pea, brown rice, and sacha inchi proteins. (I had to google that, too– It’s a seed found in the rainforest!) This protein powder is also fortified with 25% of your daily Vitamin B12 which is one of the few nutrients that is hard to get as a vegan. It’s organic, non-GMO, and doesn’t contain any artificial colors, flavors, or sweeteners. That’s pretty much exactly what I look for when I’m using protein powder so it was nice to find a new brand to use!
I’m looking forward to more fruity smoothies this summer! I think this protein powder would also be delicious in this blueberry avocado smoothie!
This sounds outrageous! I remember those creamsicles from my youth — this looks like a great way to start the day.
You had me at orange creamsicle! This is a great way to start the day!
Yes please! Orange Creamsicle was one of my favorites as a child so I can’t wait to try this as a smoothie bowl. Sounds perfect!
love all of the delicious flavors in this smoothie! Well done, just absolutely yummy!
How could something named “orange creamsicle” not be good! Haha! This smoothie bowl sounds amazing and the citrus flavors are perfect for the summer.
I have been switching over my smoothie routine too. These look incredible. Love the use of cashews for added creaminess.
Love the fruity flavours here! And your pictures make me want to reach out and put that spoonful of smoothie right in my mouth! So healthy too! What’s not to like?
this looks delicious! I love oranges so much!
Oh man! That looks absolutely delicious!!
I haven’t found a protein powder that is dairy free… does it have an after taste? Always looking for good recipe’s because my youngest has lots of allergies!
You can taste the vanilla flavor but there’s no aftertaste. It blends up nicely, too!
