What I Ate: Sunday
Sunday wasn’t a very typical day of meals which is why I thought I’d share. Not everyday is filled with vegetables! π
Alex and I had breakfast at Can Can, one of our favorite breakfast spots. The food is good but the ambiance is the very best part. I had 1/2 a broiled grapefruit and a croissant. The croissant was buttery, flaky, and perfect. This was consumed with many, many cups of coffee. We read the paper and had a perfectly relaxing morning. I almost felt guilty for how lovely this was!
Breakfast kept us both pretty full for the rest of the morning so we didn’t end up eating lunch until around 2pm. I made a huge pot of vegetarian chili and we each had a bowl before heading off to church.
It was black beans, kidney beans, tomatoes, corn, onion, garlic, cilantro, and cayenne pepper. This filled us both up!
When we got back from church, my stomach felt really off. We’re usually really early dinner people (like 5:30 or 6) but since we had such a late lunch, we ended up not eating until almost 8. I was planning on making salads + spaghetti but my stomach just wasn’t settled and I was afraid lots of raw vegetables would make things worse. We ended up splitting this macaroni and cheese dinner from Trader Joe’s.
After dinner, I felt so much better and I ended up having more of an appetite so I went back in the kitchen for some snacks. Alex and I shared some popcorn and I had a few frozen grapes for something sweet. I loooove frozen grapes, especially when it’s warm out. It’s such a perfect summer treat!
All in all, it might not have been the “healthiest” day of eats but it’s what sounded good! Luckily, it’s really all about balance π
Does your stomach ever have “off” days?
I’m linking up with Jenn for What I Ate Wednesday!
My stomach most definitely has off days, and so I have to learn to just go with the flow, and sometimes that means not eating a ton of salad.
That breakfast looks soooo good! and I really need to try frozen grapes!
xo,
Angela
Frozen grapes are the perfect night snack. I actually had many many “off” stomach days when we first touched down in the States over vacation. I’m assuming it has to do with the fact of how the food was prepared compared to Kuwait. What I find funny is that although Kuwait is kind of an obese country, they really don’t use too much oil in their food which is very lovely.
I have been snacking nightly on frozen grapes. Perfect cool treat to enjoy at the end of hot days here!
Oh sure – my stomach definitely has off days! I try to keep things bland, and stick to cooked and not raw veggies.
I’m glad I’m not the only one!
Frozen fruit is my FAVORITE summertime dessert! Especially frozen banana pieces.
Do you ever do frozen banana dipped in chocolate?! Sooo good!
My husband’s home on the weekends so my Sundays also always look LOT different than my week days. I used to have frozen grapes ALL the time as a kid and totally forgot about them!! Thanks for the reminder!!
For the sake of avoiding TMI tidbits of my life here π I’ll just say that I feel your paimpain because my stomach has been having ‘off’ days more than once lately.
Onto your food! I hope you wonβt mind me disagreeing but it looks far from unhealthy. A perfectly balanced day and I’d have happily joined you at every meal. Though splitting the newspaper among three people at breakfast might not be easy :).
I definitely have off days with my stomach – there are only so many meals that I can handle veggies! I try lately to only have veggies at dinner unless it’s spinach in a smoothie. Works really well for me.
My stomach has off days a LOT! Usually I find the hot chicken broth or miso soup does the trick. I think Mac and Cheese would too!
