Gluten Free Party Time!

That’s right. Gluten is not invited to this party.

First of all, I’m dedicating this post to my gluten-free name twin, Liz. Not only is she one of the only people in my “regular life” that reads my blog, she’s also awesome and it was her birthday yesterday. So there you go. Liz, this one’s for you.

I set off making gluten free cupcakes, because everyone should have cake on their birthday.

I used  This recipe from Comfy Tummy except that I halved it, and I used agave instead of honey.

And now the sad part.

My camera card went corrupt. So I lost all of my pictures from the past week. Including the gluten free cupcake pictures.

And a post with out pictures isn’t fun.

So in honor of this gluten-free deliciousness, here are some pictures of my other favorite gluten free products/recipes. I’m quite tolerant of gluten, but these foods are sweet!

Soy crisps

These things are awesomely protein packed and are a satisfying snack when you’re looking for a crunch. The BBQ flavor is quite good too. I know I’ve mentioned them before, but I’m going to keep bringing it up until you try it. I’m stubborn.

Summer Bean and Corn Salad

Click here for the recipe. It’s also raw. And vegan. And delicious.

Parsnip Fries

Parsnips are like the love child of a potato and a carrot. And they make tasty fries, if you slice it up and bake it with a little olive oil and salt. Dip in ketchup for maximum deliciousness.

Krishna Dressing

I haven’t made this in far too long. I actually didn’t even make it the first time. My friend made me dinner (including tofu! I know, I know I have the coolest friends ever.) Click here for the recipe. It will change your salad-dressing-world forever. It’s that good.

Have you ever made a gluten free cake? Do you ever eat gluten free products?

  1. Wow those parsnip fries look identical to real fries! What an awesome idea! I’ve always been tempted to buy one and now I know a cool way to eat it 🙂

  2. Wow, parsnip fries are SUCH a good idea! I’ve got to try these out!

  3. Yum! I love parsnip fries, so good! My younger sister is gluten free so she loves cinnamon rice cakes 🙂

  4. I love parsnips already…but I’ve never turned one into fries, which might very well turn love into adoration!

  5. Ahhh stop twisting my arm I’ll buy the soy crisps! -tee hee-

No really I am going to look for them! I want to try the fries too! I’ve made butternut squash fries but parsnips sound good too. And anything dipped in ketchup is delicious to me anyways!

  6. Okay I have never even tried a parsnip! Must change this, I am rather intrigued
I eat gluten-free on occasion but not for dietary reasons… I just like some of the products out there! Those soy crisps are great and I also like the Go Free Energy bars- dark chocolate is the best 🙂

  7. I’ve never had a parsnip before, but I don’t think anything in fry form could possibly be bad! Thanks for the vivid description, I’m more keen on trying it knowing what it could maybe taste like.

  8. Gluten free parties are my favorite parties! I make gluten free EVERYTHING and just love it!
Those parsnip fries look yummy, I’m going to have to try them! I love all your ideas for using vegetables, I can’t seem to get enough of them into the day so your ideas really help!
    Hope you are well!!

  9. Krishna Dressing WITH parsnip fries? 🙂

  10. I’m not allergic to gluten, but I love products that are free of it because usually they are healthier and don’t upset my stomach. I’ll be on the lookout for parsnips once I used up my rutabaga for fries. 🙂

  11. I officially want to try parsnips now after your description of them being a cross between carrots and potatoes, yummmmm!
Boo about the camera card, that royally sucks but i’m sure they were beautiful and tasted delicious 🙂

  12. Yup, ONLY eat gluten free foods. I bake with gluten free flours all the time. 🙂 I love that you can’t overmix gf flour. it’s gluten that makes regular (wheat) flour gummy and gooey and tough if it’s overmixed.
it’s taken a while, but i’ve got the GF baking thing downpat now 🙂

  13. oooo yummm! That dressing looks so good!!!!

  14. Those crispettes look yummy. I’m going to have to try them! I’ve been meaning to bake my gluten-free cake, cookies and pancakes, but I’m not going to lie, I’m scared I’ll mess them up. You gave me the motivation to give it a try this weekend during this awesome hurricane! 😉 Lol.

  15. I may have eaten gluten free products, but I have never knowingly ate them. I really want to start trying them though! 🙂

  16. Parsnips are so good! And I’ll make gluten free pancakes or other baked goods from time to time–it’s fun to experiment with it. And I love soy crisps, so I guess that counts 😀

  17. I’m not gluten intolerant – but some of my favorite foods are gluten free! I love Crunchmaster crackers and Mary’s Gone Crackers. Totally going to check out that dressing now!

  18. Haven’t tried parsnip fries yet, but I’ve heard good things. THe cobbler mom made me last weekend was GF. It was good, but it wasn’t as good as her original.

  19. Bummer to hear about your memory card. I haven’t tried too much gluten free baking. Parsnip fries do sound awesome though!

  20. Parsnip fries, yummm!!!!

  21. I’ve never had parsnip fries before, I’m so intrigued!! Stay safe this weekend with the impending hurricane, no fun… :/

  22. Yummy! I love GF cereal and snack bars.

  23. That was so sweet of you to make her her own gluten free cake 🙂 Ive actually never tried a gluten free cake, but I have heard they taste quite different than regular!

  24. So great of you to make a yummy cake for your friend. I make and eat lots of gluten free things for my mom. It amazes what you can do without gluten!

  25. Oh no, what a shame your camera card got messed up! I haven’t tried much gluten free baking but I did make a good attempt at a gluten free pancake!

  26. I really need to try those parsnip fries! Oh and that dressing looks yum 🙂

  27. I’ve never made parsnip fries before, but they look awesome! And, even though the pictures were lost, I’m willing to bet those cupcakes looked awesome as well 🙂

  28. that’s sad about your camera mishap! 🙁 I hate when that happens. I’m sure the cupcakes were totally lovely. And I’m SO intrigued about that dressing..can’t wait to try!

  29. Thinking of you and really hope everything’s ok… just heard the hurricane has been downgraded to a tropical storm so hope that’s the end of it xx

  30. Love these gluten free ideas 🙂 I actually eat a fair amount of gluten-free foods (along with many gluten-full foods 😉 ). I always make my pancakes with brown rice flour and I love brown rice pasta, brown rice crackers, and gluten-free grains. But I’ve never made a gluten-free cake… could be fun though!

  31. yep make gluten free cake all the time 😉 it is part of my job, tough one, haha

  32. Yum – sweet potato always hits the spot. I would stock up on peanut butter, bread, and fruit. Well – I guess a few beers wouldn’t hurt either…

  33. I love almond butter and sweet potatoes! Such a delicious combo.
