Things I’ve Learned From Blogging
I don’t think of myself as a blogger. I’m just a girl with a blog. It’s the same way I feel about running. I’m not a runner… I’m just a girl that runs. It’s different, right? No? Doesn’t matter. Either way, I’ve learned a lot of things in the past year or so.
I learned that:
I don’t need to fear nut butters.
What? No, seriously.
Back in high school I was all “OMG! 200 calories in 2 tablespoons? Nevvvvah.” I’d shun that jar of Jif in my parents pantry. I was a calorie counting maniac.
Then I discovered two things:
1. Nut butter, while high in calories, is actually quite good for you
2. Jif doesn’t even compare to the amazing nut butters on the shelf, or the kind I can make at home.
What you eat is not what I eat, and that’s ok.
I’m easily impressionable. I see someone eating chia seeds and I want to put them on every single thing I eat. Someone stir frys in coconut oil? I must do that. You eat soy yogurt not greek yogurt? Should I be doing that?
Wait stop.
What tastes good to me, might not taste good to you. What my body needs is what what your body needs. I mean, look at all the WIAW posts! We all eat different things, and that’s ok!
Exercise is more than Cardio and 5lb dumbells
I was the classic “45min of the elliptical and a few bicep curls with a light weight.” I didn’t push myself with strength training. I didn’t want muscle, I just wanted to burn off calories. And then I saw girls like Katie and Bonnie kicking butt in the gym. And I thought… I can do that too! I’m no where near as toned as these ladies, but I’m on my way! π
I feel the same way about blogging. I definitely don’t consider myself a “blogger.”
I’ve learned that just because I sometimes eat differently than my friends/family doesn’t mean that there is anything wrong with the way I eat or that I should have to justify it.
I love this! I finally talked myself down from chia seeds after I saw the price tag. This post is just another reminder I needed π I too have loved all the workouts I’ve found on blogs. I’ve learned that the treadmill can be fun!
Haha yeah, I’ve jumped on the chia seed bandwagon! They’re kind of fun, but I don’t’ really view them as a necessity, and I stopped sprinkling them on everything π
biggest thing i learned is what works for someone may not necessarily work for me or be the best for me. it has helped ease my mind with what my lifestyle choices are and how i exercise!
Yes!!! Me too! I find inspiration from others, but in the end, I’ve gotta do what works for me π
Thats so true! When I was going through troubles with eating it was so hard for me to overcome that……but I have tried them now and they are SOO good:)
Agreed on all of your statements! Nut butter is a gift from god – I find new excuses to use it daily. π
Love the nut butter comment – I totally used to shun the stuff too bc of calories – what was I thinking?! I think I’ve learned so much about new foods and methods of cooking thanks to other blogs, it amazes me sometimes!
It’s better to be myself than try to be something I”m not. I’m not a HUGE food blogger. I’m not a HUGE fitness blogger. I’m more of a LIFE blogger… and that’s okay π
Brilliant post… I don’t think of myself as a blogger, or a cyclist, and I do both all the time… I just like doing them; know exactly what you mean!
I’ve found so many different foods and inspiration for cooking from other blogs, it’s brilliant π
I know! Not to mention all the cool stuff this SWEET blogger from the UK sent me π
What an excellent post, I love all the things you’ve learned, especially “What you eat is not what I eat, and thatβs ok.” π
I could never not eat nut butter – and i NEVER eat JIF!
I used to be the jump on the elliptical for 45 minute girl too π
Haha isn’t it funny how we can change our opinions on these things?! I could never go back!
