The Perks of Traveling
Don’t mess with my routine. Don’t.
Seriously. I don’t like that. I’m really easy going with most things. But there are certain things I just don’t like getting messed with. One of those is breakfast. I want breakfast, I want the newspaper, I want coffee. Please don’t mess with that.
But when I’m traveling, everything gets messed up. (Yes, I had to read the NY Times instead of the Wall Street Journal. Oh my gosh my life is so hard. 😉 )
However, there are some perks:
Perk #1- Free Food Everywhere
Sometimes I don’t like this, because it’s like being tempted with food all the time. But free Kashi bars? I’m not complaining.
This was the Kashi TLC Trail Mix Bar. Packs in 4g fiber and 6g protein, for 140 calories. YES!
Please note the blue leopard shoes in the background.
Perk #2- A gym at the hotel!
Not just a gym, but a gym that (apparently) no one else uses! How much do I love having the gym to myself? A lot.
Perk #3- New running routes!
I’m about to go attempt an outdoor run. It’s not that the temperatures are bad, and it’s certainly not the scenery… it’s that I don’t normally run very much. Wish me luck. (Note: That’s the ‘shoe for those of you college football fans. Anyone know where I am?) 🙂
Other unpicutred perks include: Someone else making my bed, Kerug coffee maker, chocolates on my pillow, and, oh yeah, catching up with old friends 😉
agreed!
i love how no one is usually at the gym..it kinda says something about america (ouchh!), but having a gym to urself is awesome!
i also love the new landscape of places when im traveling! im not a big runner–so i like to go on walks (and go shopping) in different cities/towns!
I love when the hotel gym is nicer than the gym at home. That’s always exciting! I always try to stop at a whole foods or supermarket while I’m on vacation because sometimes I can find products that I can’t find at home, which is really exciting!
I love my routine too. Traveling is the one time when I have to force myself to be okay with playing things by ear. More often than not, the opportunities to try new things end up being way worth it.
I have no idea where you are, but it looks nice 🙂
Good luck running!
I work out when traveling, but sometimes end up doing more low intensity stuff like walking…
Since I am a bit too addicted to exercising, I ALWAYS workout when I travel. My choice is running usually and then I do plyo-like routines and boot camp workouts I find online 🙂
we try our best to workout while traveling, it all depends on where we are traveling to. it is nice to find new places to go for a run or walk 🙂 we usually always try to at least do push-ups in the room!
I’ve never worked out while traveling. Because I am getting more into shape, I think I would use a gym or something next time I had to stay in a hotel! A gym to myself sounds really fun!

Basically the only time I really travel is if we are doing a vacation, which means that I do not work out as far as gym goes. We do a lot of walking/sight seeing on our vacations so I get some activitiy in.
I try to plan active activities so I don’t have to worry about working out. I’ll also bring some dumbells for some strength training.
CHECK OUT THAT GYM!!! What a prime spot in a hotel!!! 🙂
I love traveling! I definitely workout but probably not everyday. It really depends what I have planned and everything. I love hotel gyms when they’re empty!
