The Perks of Traveling
Don’t mess with my routine. Don’t.
Seriously. I don’t like that. I’m really easy going with most things. But there are certain things I just don’t like getting messed with. One of those is breakfast. I want breakfast, I want the newspaper, I want coffee. Please don’t mess with that.
But when I’m traveling, everything gets messed up. (Yes, I had to read the NY Times instead of the Wall Street Journal. Oh my gosh my life is so hard. 😉 )
However, there are some perks:
Perk #1- Free Food Everywhere
Sometimes I don’t like this, because it’s like being tempted with food all the time. But free Kashi bars? I’m not complaining.
This was the Kashi TLC Trail Mix Bar. Packs in 4g fiber and 6g protein, for 140 calories. YES!
Please note the blue leopard shoes in the background.
Perk #2- A gym at the hotel!
Not just a gym, but a gym that (apparently) no one else uses! How much do I love having the gym to myself? A lot.
Perk #3- New running routes!
I’m about to go attempt an outdoor run. It’s not that the temperatures are bad, and it’s certainly not the scenery… it’s that I don’t normally run very much. Wish me luck. (Note: That’s the ‘shoe for those of you college football fans. Anyone know where I am?) 🙂
Other unpicutred perks include: Someone else making my bed, Kerug coffee maker, chocolates on my pillow, and, oh yeah, catching up with old friends 😉
I love when I’m staying somewhere and they have a pimped out gym that no one else is using–winning! I try to work out but usually dont get around to it (I attriibute this to being hungover) however if I’m somewhere that is walker friendly, I try to get out and walk around the city.
Oooo, those unanticipated perks sound awesome. I workout when I travel about half the time. It depends on the travel, the location, and the length of my trip. Even though I belong to a good gym, I like to work out at the hotel fitness centers as a change of scenery.
I love the perks of traveling as well! Super comfy robes are my favorite! 🙂
Yes, I like to exercise when traveling. It really depends on my schedule, but I fit in something whenever I can–even if it is just running up and down the stairs of a hotel (I use the creepy cement stairwells so that I don’t scare away any guests!).
Wow that gym is wicked! And free kashi bars?? Yes please! 😀 have an awesome weekend!
i do love running in a new place! sometimes my routine gets boring!
I love just walking around the new place! Great workout and sightseeing all at once 🙂
GO BUCKS!!!!!! 🙂
traveling sounds like its treating you well 🙂
I typically DONT workout when traveling cause its such a short trip. For example when we went to my hubbys cousins wedding, we were only there for the wedding and then the night. I didnt see the point of working out in the morning when we were heading home lol
When I travel (which is not often) I definitely use the gym if they have one! Now that I run I’m sure I would LOVE to run but I think I’d be scared of getting lost or running down the wrong back alley 😉
Happy Friday!
I always try to workout when traveling. I usually pack gym clothes and hit the hotel gym, which usually smells slightly of old sweat. Yuck. I also usually travel with a bunch of colleagues, all of whom work out, so I end up fighting for a treadmill. Boo. I read another blog that suggested if the hotel has a pool to bring swim stuff because it’s so much simpler to pack than gym shoes, etc. Going to definitely do that next time!
(love the shoes!)
