Restaurant Week! (WIAW)
Here in Richmond, it’s “Restaurant Week” which means you can try out a new restaurant, for $25.11, and some of the proceeds are donated to the food bank! This is a deal you can’t pass up 🙂
We decided to take a trip to Rowland Fine Dining. The restaurant was lovely, but the lighting wasn’t so great, so I apologize for the pictures!
The pictures certainly don’t do it justice.
I started with a hummus platter. It came with toasted bread topped with caramelized onions, roasted red peppers, and olives. (I don’t like olives, but my friend Emily does!)
This was followed by eggplant Parmesan, which I’d never had before, but I LOVED!
The meal was finished off with “Derby Pie” which was some sort of chocolate/pecan?walnut? pie. It was pretty amazing, and I ate almost all of it, despite being super full!
Apparently dessert wasn’t all we were in for! Our server also brought us watermelon vodka shooters! (Pretty tasty!)
Nice touch, waiter man 😉 It was a fun meal, and everything tastes better when eaten with friends! I would definitely go back here, but I will say, it’s on the pricy side. (Obviously, being restaurant week, it was cheaper, but keep it in mind if you’re checking it out!)
This post timed perfectly to participate in What I Ate Wednesday!
Even though technically, it’s what I ate Tuesday 😉
The rest of life (you know, the small fraction of my life that doesn’t revolve around food blogging) has been super busy, but lots of fun! Now that the weather is warm, I feel like life is bursting with activity!! (Clarifying, it’s been busy with social activities, so I have no complaints.) I’m currently debating how personal to get in the blogosphere. It’s always a strange thing, because I honestly have no idea who reads this. (I know how many people read it… but not really who…) Sooo while that debate continues on in my head… I’ll stick to the food!
If you’re a blogger, do you get personal on your blog? If you’re just a reader, do you like it when people get personal on their blog?
Does anyone else feel like they get busier when the weather warms up?

Oh my! Silly me just realized you’re a fellow Richmond blogger 😀 I need to get on those restaurant week deals! Which restaurant did you go to for that delicious looking meal?
1. I don’t expect bloggers to get personal on their blogs, but I don’t really mind if they do. I appreciate peoples honesty no matter what though 🙂 I don’t get too personal on my blog. I don’t avoid it, but it just never comes to mind when I’m writing up a post. And if it does… then I’ll just write about it 🙂 Whatever my post is about in the end, it is just genuine me! I guess in that sense I am personal.
2. I notice that I get a lot happier when it’s warmer 😀

On second that… I do get personal lol!
I get pretty personal, which is weird because I freaked out when my parents found out about my blog, but I don’t care if it’s out there for the entire world to see, haha!
I didn’t used to be personal on the blog but I’ve been opening up. Everyone has always been so supportive so why not? Sometimes I debate on posting certain topics about myself on my blog but maybe in the future I will. I love reading personal blogs for the most part.

I love restaurant weeks!! I used to book one almost every night of the week… a little ridiculous, i know!
I would say I get personal on my blog BUT in a light kind of way…does that make sense? I’m primarily all about food and healthy living and every once in a while I pour my lil heart out about my “fat days” and the sad state of life I was in…
I don’t mind when people get personal…It’s a blog about YOU so to a certain extent it SHOULD be personal, you know?
That totally makes sense! I think it’s all about finding a balance!
I get all kinds of personal on my blog…but all within reason, of course!
Umm, I could totally go for some of that pie!
I get personal. My blog is intended to be a publicly personal blog. If I were to ever go with a food blog I’d be more of a snippeter I suppose but my blog isn’t really intended for people to get recipes that often. 🙂
I love personal blogs, I think they’re SO interesting to read!! I think I might start adding a few more details from my daily life! And if people get bored… they can read something else! haha
I like reading blogs that share some personal details- it makes it easier to connect. I try and add in some personal details in my blog when I can 🙂
I don’t get too personal when it comes to serious things on my blog; I love celebrating all the good stuff! Similar to you, I’m not sure who’s reading, do they want to know, etc. However, I did see a comment once on a blog that has stuck with me. The person commended the blogger for being “real” and not always happy and positive like they never had struggles. I tend to blog as a happy, positive person, but that comment stays with me and I wonder if I should let people in a little more sometimes….there are a few bloggers I’ve followed for a while and feel a connection with and I do enjoy reading about their ups and downs. That’s just me 2 cents.
PS – great dinner – I’m loving the eggplant parm and shooter!!
I feel the same way!!! 98% of the time I’m perky and happy (which is actually pretty representative of my everyday life, haha) but I also think I need to balance it out with other opinions if I have them! Sometimes I’m afraid of controversy!!
I definitely get personal on the blog when it comes to happy things. Not so much when it comes to being upset about things. Mostly because I have so many in-person friends who read the blog (including my employers) so posting anything about being upset with them or anything like that… not really a good idea, haha.
I agree with Sarah about loving to continue reading blogs where I feel like I know the person best. 🙂
That totally makes sense! I think I just need to find the right balance 🙂
