Birthday Cake Protein Shake
This birthday cake protein shake tastes like dessert for breakfast but it’s loaded with protein to keep you full and energized all day long!
I’m one of those people that can’t function without breakfast. And I try to keep breakfast pretty healthy, to start the day off on the right foot. But just because breakfast is healthy doesn’t mean it can’t taste like dessert! This Birthday Cake Protein Shake is the perfect way to start your day!
I recently tried About Time Birthday Cake Protein Powder and I’m obsessed! So I whipped up this little shake. Ok, so this is actually only half of it. It made a huge serving. But I’m not complaining! If you want some tips on how to create the best smoothies at home, check out this post on how to make super thick smoothies!
Blend everything except the sprinkles in a blender or food processor until smooth. Freezing the banana is the key to making it extra thick! You can also add a tiny pinch of xanthan gum if you want to make it a little thicker. (If xanthan gum freaks you out, it shouldn’t! I use it every time I forget to freeze my banana ahead of time.)

I’ve always heard that potato tacos are tasty, but it just seemed weird to put potatoes in a tortilla..It definitely looks goof though! I’ve never tried soy chorizo or chorizo for that matter, but my boyfriend mentioned that he wanted some. Maybe I’ll get soy and he wont know. 😉
I’ve seen that protein powder all over blog world-does it actually taste like cake? If it does, I really NEED to try it. Yum 😀 I just got a cookies and creme protein powder that it is surprisingly good. Still figuring out different ways to use it though!
I’m addicted to anything cake batter! I made cake batter peanut butter and cake batter pancakes recently. Now I eat to make cake batter oatmeal 🙂
I am also a huge fan of the TJ’s chorizo. I’m eating a lot of popcorn and hot sauce for snacks these days.
crazy I didn’t even know that cake was a type of protein powder – I thought there was only chocolate and vanilla! and All my experimentation with vanilla has failed thus far… guess I’m just a chocolate lover at heart. This shall be explored when my next craving for cake hits…
What type of tortillas did you use? I’m so picky about store bought tortillas so I’m always looking for new recomendations 🙂
I’m actually not sure! My friend is Mexican, so he usually uses really “Authentic” ingredients that he gets at Mexican grocery stores (where as I use, like, La Tortilla Factory Low Carb tortillas, because they have more fiber!) haha
That protein shake looks delish! I bet it tasted great, too!
I’ve never tried that protein powder but it sound delish! 🙂
Thanks for your comment on my blog 🙂 Im glad Im not the only cereal monster! 🙂
Yum I am dying to try that protein powder! I will definitely use this recipe once I get my hands on it 🙂
I’M TRYING THIS ASAP! That looks AWESOME. I just tried adding spinach to my smoothies, but my blender didn’t really chop it up enough I don’t think because there’s still little tiny pieces of spinach floating around. I guess I can’t get rid of it completely!
I have not tried any cake smoothies yet! I feel sooo left out! 😉

Talk about fashionably late 😉 Haha, I kid.
Cake smoothie? Um yeah, I’ll have that!
Last night I had peanut butter granola on spoonfuls of PB&Co White Chocolate dreams PB. It was DAMN good.
