Packing Up, Heading Out!
So glad it’s Friday. SO glad. This week has been interesting. I should start posting about the weird events in my life, instead of food. Like the random booty call text that I tweeted about. Or the guy I met for coffee that knew me but I didn’t know him. But that’s not what this is about…
Highlight of the Week: Game Night
Don’t be jealous of my sweet scrabble parties. You should have seen me act out “sex” in charades. (Who put that in there?!) Ohhh game night.
So this weekend is the annual…
Maynard Family Reunion
This is notable for a few reasons:
On the last family reunion, I was still in my vegan phase, and the chef at the lodge had just learned how to cook gluten free food. Apparently, he thought these were basically the same thing, because he kept trying to make me try his gluten free concoctions. Nice try, chef.
There is no internet. Enough said. (I actually checked the website to see if they had internet. When I saw them advertise a “video player machine” as an amenity, I gave up.)
I’ll be packing my own food with me, because I am high maintenance. a healthy eater am probably going to eat a bunch of junk food, and I have to balance it out somehow.
What I’m taking:
I’m also packing some soy crisps, hummus, and some baby carrots. I’m hoping the restaurant at the lodge has healthy food, but you can never be too sure…
I’m also packing my running shoes, because there are some great running trails! Maybe I can even convince my dad to give me some tennis lessons 😉
Anyways, that’s where I’ll be this weekend!
I love game nights! None of my friends like Scrabble, unfortunately 🙁 I went to a family reunion last year (when I was vegan) and brought a lot of my own food. Every meal was like a huge picnic, so I supplemented with fruit and such and it ended up working out well. Have fun!
Haha your scrabble nights sound hilarious! I’m going to New York with my family in about 2 weeks or so, and I do pack soem healthy snacks since I just know I’ll go crazy over the soft pretzels there 🙂
Enjoy your trip! My boyfriend and I are heading towards Vegas next weekend for his birthday, should be fun!
I love the way chefs think like that! I once ate at a restuarant where the chef said he knew all about coeliac disease – then came back and said “you can eat flour, can’t you?” Errr….!
Love Scrabble too; it’s the new clubbing 🙂
Hahaha scrabble is totally the new clubbing 😉
My family vacations mean me going home to visit family. I always buy what they consider to be “weird” (read healthier) foods from the grocery and am made fun of for it. Hope you enjoy your trip!
Haha that’s how my family is! This morning I had to explain what greek yogurt was.
I don’t have any real family vacations planned where everyone is going somewhere, but I am planning on going home for a weekend in August to see my dad and my friends 🙂 Have fun!
Oh, I would love to hear some crazy boy-stories on your blog 😉
Enjoy your trip, and all that glorious food 😀 Im working all summer, so no family vacation for me 🙁
Haha perhaps I’ll share a few on some upcoming posts!
we just had a family vacation down at the FL keys, and we packed a lot of food!!!
Great to see that you are well prepared for your trip food wise-such a high priority when going away!! Ha!! 🙂
Have an amazing trip! I wish we had a vacation planned-we are moving the first week of August. Not exactly the same thing, huh? 😀 Oh well…..
