What I’m Loving Lately
It’s been a while since I’ve shared what I’m loving lately, so let’s just dive right in!
I’ve been on a house kick recently. When we moved into our house a couple of years ago, the office became the dumping ground for things we didn’t know what to do with and the “I’ll-deal-with-it-someday” pile was getting overwhelming. It was the one room that hadn’t been painted or styled and as a result, we weren’t really using the room. Finally, I decided to toss the things we didn’t need, get rid of the things I didn’t like, and buy a few new pieces to help tie the room together.
My favorite find was this vintage chair I snagged on CraigsList for $40! Don’t you love finding a steal? We kept the same desk and just switched out the old rug for a new, more modern one.
We got these marble shelves from World Market and they are so heavy but Alex was a good sport, spending a Saturday afternoon mounting them to our plaster walls. I haven’t totally decided how I want to style them but for now, it’s succulents and small containers!
I’ve also been loving the home accessories from H&M. I don’t think they carry much of it in stores (at least not around here) but I ordered some fun pillow covers and accessories online.
How cute is this pillow cover?! They have a bunch of different ones for less than $10, which is such a cheap way to switch up a room!
Now that the weather has been warming up, I’m starting to focus on our outdoor space. I’m a total novice when it comes to anything gardening-related so I decided to chat with a pro. There’s a local nursery here in Richmond (Sneed’s) that does consultations for $25 which seemed like money well spent considering that everything I’ve planted in the past hasn’t survived very well.
I was feeling totally overwhelmed trying to figure out what would look right, so it was a relief having an expert sketch out some designs for us. I’m excited to do some landscaping!
I’ve been reading more lately, which is a nice change of pace. I recently finished For The Love which was awesome. It’s sort of a random collection of life advice and it pretty much covers everything from your expectations in life to parenting. I even enjoyed the parenting sections, even if they’re not totally relevant right now 😉
I also skimmed through The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up. I know people tend to have strong feelings on the Kon Mari method but I like the general idea. I think it gets a little too…”out there” for me but the idea of having less stuff around is appealing. I’ve been purging a lot of junk and trying to focus on buying quality items that I won’t have to replace all the time. I know I literally just showed you all the things I bought but I’ve been trying to buy things I really love, not just the first thing I find.
Your room looks great! We just moved in November and our office has been the dumping ground ever since. You’re inspiring me to finally get it tackled!
I love those marble shelves!

That pillow cover is so pretty. Love it! And I need to check the book out 🙂
Cute work space! I love that pineapple cover too. Im obsessed with pineapple things. My phone case is pineapples and I have a kitchen towel that are pineapples right now too haha!
I go to H&M a lot for random purchases like that. I like that pineapple pillow a lot. So cute!
LOVE your office! I just finished mine a few weeks ago! I almost got a desk just like yours but ended up with a gray one from Ikea 🙂 Those shelves are gorgeous! Love WM! I just might need to order that pillow! It is too darn cute! I got several cute pillows on Amazon for less than $10 too!
Now I am onto our guest room which has been the catch all room since we moved in last July!
Spring cleaning for the win 🙂
I’m loving all the fresh seasonal fruits and veggies that have been popping up in stores lately for Spring!
Those marble shelves are beautiful!
Love the shelves and that chair! We close on our house in 2 months so I’m obsessed with all the home stuff lately!
