Brain Cravings
On Wednesday, I posted about how to stay full. How to fill up a stomach that feels like a bottomless pit. But let’s be honest… sometimes it’s not our stomach that’s hungry. Right? So let’s talk about when your mind is hungry…
Brain Cravings
(Not a scientific term. But you totally know what I’m talking about.)
If your brain desperately wants a bite of chocolate, have a bite of dark chocolate. Don’t try to satisfy your chocolate craving with 14 sugar free hard candies, 2 rice cakes, and some mints. You’ll still be “hungry” for what your brain is craving. That doesn’t mean eating a giant bowl of ice cream or a King Size candy bar. It means savoring a bite or two of some sinfully rich dark chocolate, and then calling it a night.
I’m not the only one that has these cravings… right?
When those types of cravings hit, try a bite of something that will truly satisfy that craving, without making you feel like you’ve given up. Here are a few easy recipes that can soothe that sweet tooth…
You only need a few ingredients for this little treat, and that granola does add a tiny bit of protein and fiber! It also takes the chocolate to an even more delicious place. Seriously, try it.
If you’ve got a few strawberries sitting in the fridge, whip up a quick batch of these, and you’ll get the enjoyment of a bite of cheesecake, without the temptation of an entire cake sitting in the fridge.
These mini banana splits come with the built-in benefit of portion control. Plus, they’re adorable, and adorable desserts are scientifically proven to be more delicious. (That’s not based on any research, but you know it’s true.)
Mmm mini desserts. Perfect for brain cravings.
My brain cravings are intense… like last night. Oh man. I often try to drink tea before plowing through the kitchen. While I’m drinking I usually figure out what I want and then have it, leave the kitchen and consider it closed. Glad you wrote this post!
How have I never thought to put creme cheese in strawberries?! Those look divine!
They’re so delicious!!
Brain cravings are so frustrating! Great snack ideas for when they hit though. Thanks for sharing!
I definitely have brain cravings, and you’re right – the only way to deal with them is to give in. Because seriously, carrots, cereal, and a huge glass of water never satisfy a chocolate craving.
Wow that bark looks awesome. I am always craving something seriously. Thanks for these sweet tooth ideas. I have been craving a lot of strawberries lately myself. 🙂
Brain cravings – love it! I get these every meal…haha! I keep 90% dark chocolate at home and break off a little piece every night, sit down, and enjoy it to the fullest.
Ahhh that bark looks so amazing! I have been trying to listen to my cravings more lately. I have been craving salty so much. Goldfish have been hitting the spot!
Brain cravings are the perfect way to describe it! I really like the mini banana splits. Thanks for the great idea 🙂
Those banana splits ARE adorable. What a fun idea. When I get a ‘brain’ or comfort craving, it usually doesn’t go away until I eat whatever it is, so I give in. Although, these days some of my cravings have been making me question if I’m about to die – I’ve been wanting buttered broccoli. ?!?!!
Hahaha I’ve been known to crave kale 😉 I’m hope is that those types of cravings balance out my obsession with frozen yogurt!
those all look amaazing. I have to say, lately I am a huge fan of just popping cut up frozen bananas.
