Vitalicious Review!
Happy Friday!
I don’t know about you, but this week has seemed particularly long. I mean, it kind of flew by, but I’m just exhausted! I’ll have to scrounge up some energy for the weekend, as it’s going to be pretty busy. (#VAisforbloggers meet up on Saturday!)
Anyways, the awesome folks at Vitalicious sent me a few boxes of their new 50 calorie VitaCakes to review, and since they’re awesome, I thought I’d do a review of the cakes AND the muffins! So let’s begin:
If you’ve never had a VitaMuffin (Kat, I’m looking at you!) these things are delicious! They come frozen, and since they don’t have preservatives, you need to keep them frozen until ready to eat. You can either leave them out for a few hours, or nuke them in the microwave for instant gratification.
I’ve tried both the double chocolate chip and the banana nut flavor and both are excellent.
VitaMuffins and VitaCakes are:
- Low in calories
- High in fiber/protein
- Easy to eat on the go
- Have no artificial additives or preservatives
- A delicious way to satisfy a sweet craving
They also taste really rich. They don’t taste like cardboard cakes, like some “low calorie” cakes do. Really the only downside is the price. They’re not cheap. (Around $5 for a box of 4…) but sometimes they’re on sale, and it’s cheaper than grabbing a muffin at a coffee shop.
That’s the banana nut muffin with a smear of nut butter on top, because everything is better that way.
Or if I want a smaller snack, the new VitaCakes are only 50 calories!
I usually take one with me in the mornings, and it’s thawed by the time I need a snack! (They also don’t smush, because they’re frozen… which sounds silly, but we all know is kind of a big deal.)
There are lots of other flavors I haven’t tried, but I can definitely vouch for these two!
Always! I can’t stand getting hungry and being without something to nibble on. Usually its a piece of fruit or trail mix. Boring but delicious.
I LOVE vitatops! I love the chocolate heated up in the microwave and topped with peanut butter and banana slices..YUM
I do the same thing!!!!! I looooove them warm and melty!
I’m a granola bar girl. There’s always one in my purse or desk for the afternoon… I’d kill someone without it!
If you’re looking for less expensive VitaMuffins/VitaCakes, definitely purchase them directly from the website instead of purchasing at the grocery store. They send out a e-newsletter that always has some sort of deal. Better yet, subscribe to the Hungry Girl e-newsletter. She partners w/Vitalicious and often has 2-for-1 deals.
That’s so good to know! Thanks Kathleen!
These do look good! I’ve heard of them, but haven’t ordered any. Usually my toss-in-bag snacks include apples, babybel cheese, clementines, Greek yogurt (if it won’t be long before my snack), almonds, walnuts, raisins… occasionally a KIND or Clif bar, that kind of thing. I’m commuting and traveling a lot, so I’ve become a pro snack-packer!
You can usually find Vitamuffins at the grocery store, in the freezer section (of the natural foods) and sometimes they’re on sale! When they are, I usually stock up 🙂
I’ve never tried these before! They sound great 🙂
I’m terrible at packing snacks…Really awful. I have a couple health food store spots I can stop at during my daily travels, so I generally just stop and buy something when I need it…and when I’m starving, I spend too much and buy too many things! Maybe I’ll work on it…or maybe not 🙂
Haha I feel like there are much worse habits 😉 I wouldn’t worry about that one!
Oh yess! I always have snacks with me 🙂 my favorite would be a luna bar but they are so darn expensive!
Awesome review! I’ve only tried their banana nut flavored vitatops, and I agree, they were great! The price hurts my wallet though so I usually get them once in a blue moon haha
Have a great weekend! 🙂
I not only throw a snack…I throw in twelve or fifteen snacks. 🙂 People often refer to my bag as the Mary Poppins bag of food…
I just hate the thought of being stuck without something (healthy) to eat!
PS Cannot WAIT to meet you tomorrow!
I’m so excited!!!!! And I can’t wait to visit Charlottesville. I’ve actually only been there once!
