Secret Chili Dip (+ Giveaway!)
Almost every Thursday, a group of my friends get together for a potluck, some of which are themed, some of which are just a random assortment of goodies. As a vegetarian, I usually try to bring some sort of “main dish” that’s meat free.
But last week, I was feeling sneaky.
I wanted to bring a dish that wasn’t “great for a healthy vegetarian” but something that was delicious.
And lucky for me, the nice people at LightLife sent me coupons for some free goodies!
For this recipe, I used the LightLife Mexican style soy crumbles:
And I whipped this into…
Secret Vegan Chili Dip
- 1 packages of Mexican style soy crumbles
- 1 24oz can of crushed tomatoes
- 1 tbsp lime juice
- 2 tbsp nutritional yeast
- 1/2 tsp chili powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp crushed red peppers
- Splash of Tobascco sauce
- 3 drops of liquid smoke
The great thing about the soy crumbles is, you don’t have to worry about making sure it gets cooked. You can just toss all these ingredients into a pot and let it simmer for 10-15 minutes.
Make sure you stir it while it’s heating, so it doesn’t burn on the bottom. You don’t have to serve it warm, but it’s simple to reheat it in the microwave if you need it! Serve with a bag of tortilla chips, and you’re ready to go!
Everyone loved the dip! I didn’t mention that it wasn’t beef (and I also didn’t mention it had nutritional yeast in there… if people haven’t tried it, they tend to get a little weirded out by it). I’d call that, success 🙂
Want to make this at home? Well one lucky winner will get THREE coupons for free Lightlife products! I can tell you, these mexican crumbles are delicious, but you could try any of their other products!

Your chilli dip looks pretty amazing!
That chili dip looks fabulous!
OOO this looks yummy! I am a recent vegan so I am just experimenting with faux-meat products. I always sneak healthy things into our meals. I even got my boyfriend to eat tofu without even knowing it! haha
I’m following through googlereader 😀

Mmm! your chili dip looks YUMMY! I think it’d taste great on falafel chips! 🙂
I like to serve things like black bean brownies and zucchini bread. People have NO idea that they’re eating HEALTHY ingredients!
I alwaysss try to sneak in the healthy stuff for my own recipes lol. If I can blend some veggies into a pasta sauce or hide them in a black bean burger I am good to go!
I wiggle healthy stuff into recipes without telling the hubby. I *usually* tell him at the end of the meal, but I like to let him enjoy it first. If my parents dropped by more often, I’d do it to them too!
Hahaha I never tell people until AFTER they say they like it!!
