Jillian Michaels Killer Buns and Thighs
Curious about Jillian Micahel’s Killer Buns and Thighs workout video? Here’s my full review!
Since Alex was going golfing today, he requested a lower body workout… meaning I was finally able to talk him into trying the Jillian Michaels Killer Buns and Thighs DVD. I think the title turned him off (and it didn’t help when Jillian talked about fitting into your skinny jeans). But he’s quite agreeable, so we rolled out our mats and gave it a shot. Ever since I completed my personal training certification from the National Academy of Sports Medicine, I like reviewing workouts from a critical lens.
What to Expect from Jillian Michaels Killer Buns and Thighs
It was my first time trying this DVD, but it might be one of my new favorites. I like that it really did focus on lower body exercises and cardio unlike some of her other workouts. For example, I felt like the “Six Weeks, Six Pack” DVD was a lot more lower body than abs. This one really was all about buns and thighs.
Some of the moves you’ll see on Jillian Michaels Killer Buns and Thighs include side lunges, burpees, swimmers, and toning moves on the mat.
How Difficult are the Workouts?
The exercises were challenging, but not so challenging that I couldn’t keep up. We only did level 1, but I was excited to see a lot of new exercises. Sometimes I like new workout DVDs just to get some new ideas for circuit training. This one definitely had a lot of great ones. There is a lot of plyometrics involved, meaning jumping and high-impact exercises. She does have options for lower impact exercises if you need to take it down a notch.
What Equipment is Needed?
You’ll need a yoga mat and supportive shoes. Beyond that, the equipment is optional. You could use a set of hand weights to make the workout more challenging, but it really isn’t necessary, especially if you’re just starting out. If you wanted to take things to the next level, definitely have a set handy.
Would This Workout be Good for a Beginner?
Level one offers modifications for moves, so if you’re just starting out, you might be able to make this work. But it’s an intense workout, so I wouldn’t recommend starting with Jillian Michaels Killer Buns and Thighs as a beginner workout. If you want a place to start, I’d try her beginner program.
Here’s a clip so you can see what you can expect from Jillian Michaels Killer Buns and Thighs workout!
Each level is about 30 minutes long, so it’s easy to squeeze in, but you’ll definitely work up a sweat. Ever since the “Butt Bible” videos disappeared from the free On Demand workout videos, I’ve been in search of a workout like this. Definitely check it out! What’s your favorite lower body workout?
I thought about watching the clip, Liz but then I decided I would just be too depressed and moved on! 😉 Glad you enjoyed your weekend!
I used to do lot of JM’s workouts but since my cd broke – i havent. Need to check this one out
I’ve never tried one of Jillian’s workouts, but it looks pretty good! I need to mix up my routine a bit more, so this would be a nice option.
I love that you & your man workout together.. and better yet he agreed to try a Jillian Michaels DVD out with you. So sweet!
I seriously need to try one of her DVDs, I hear nothing but good things about them! My boyfriend probably wouldn’t humor me with trying it out, kudos to yours!
You definitely should try them! So many of them are free on YouTube if you just want to see what they’re like. I’m pretty lucky my boyfriend can be talked into Jillian workouts 😉
That Jillian Michaels DVD is most defintiely “killer!” I am currently really liking her yoga DVD.
I love the Yoga dvd, too! Her workouts are so perfect when you don’t have a lot of time!
I love Jillian’s DVDs. I have 30 Day Shred and Yoga Meltdown, both are awesome!
I love both of those! I’m always sore after the Yoga one!
I’ve found that many of Jillian’s DVDs that are aimed toward one part of the body tend to focus more on another. It’s good to know that this one did what it said it would!
I think P90X Plyometrics is my favorite lower body workout…but yoga is always good, too!
I love the P90X Ab Ripper DVD! That’s one of my favorite ab workouts!
Hahaha I love how he was turned off by the title. Hilarious.
I love Jillian Michaels DVD’s. 30 day shred is by far my favourite of hers and I recommend it to everyone. I will have to try this killer buns and thighs one though as it sounds really good and I like that it has levels too like 30 day shred.
I love the 30 day shred, too! That was is definitely my favorite full body workout of her’s!
