Halo Top Ice Cream Review
Have you guys heard of Halo Top? It’s a healthy alternative to traditional ice cream. The whole pint has just 240-280 calories! But does it stack up to traditional ice cream? Let’s see. Here’s my Halo Top Ice Cream review!
Does Halo Top Taste Good?
Honestly, I think this stuff is delicious. If you’re skeptical because you’ve tried other “healthy” ice creams like Arctic Zero, you still need to give this stuff a chance. It’s much creamier than Arctic Zero and it doesn’t have any sort of fake sweetener taste. It is a little hard when you first take it out of the freezer but if you leave it out for a couple of minutes, it’ll soften a bit to a perfectly creamy texture. My personal favorite flavors are Chocolate and Birthday Cake but honestly all of the flavors are delicious.
Halo Top Ingredients
With a lot of “healthy” products, you have to be careful of a sketchy ingredient list. But Halo Top is actually pretty clean, all things considered. Here’s the list of ingredients for the Chocolate flavor: Milk and cream, eggs, erythritol, prebiotic fiber, milk protein concentrate, organic cane sugar, high-fat cocoa, vegetable glycerin, sea salt, organic carob gum, organic guar gum, organic stevia. As you can see, it does use erythritol which some people might have trouble digesting, but overall it’s a pretty good list.
Is Halo Top Healthy?
As I said, the pints contain 240-280 calories for the entire container. That means a serving has just 60-70 calories per 1/2 cup. The best part is that the breakdown of macros is pretty stellar. Each serving has 6g of protein! It might not be “healthy” but it’s definitely a healthier alternative to ice cream!
Here’s what the chocolate flavor looks like:
Where to Buy Halo Top
My local Kroger, Whole Foods, and Wegmans both typically have it in stock and you can also find it at specialty stores like Whole Foods. You can use their product locator to find it in your area, or you can order it online.
What’s your favorite frozen treat?
*Update*
Since this original post, Halo Top has come out with a bunch of new flavors. So far I’ve tried the red velvet cake, chocolate, lemon cake, mocha chip, birthday cake, and vanilla. All of them have been excellent!

I’m a bit bummed I hadn’t seen Halo Top ice cream while on vacation. Maybe if I get lucky it’ll come into stores here. More than likely it’ll cost a leg & arm if it does. Guess it’ll be what I splurge on for the week 🙂
I love the Lemon Cake flavor of Halo Top – so tasty! Unfortunately, the pints are really expensive near me… We are talking $6 per pint, which is a little crazy since you can count on me to eat the whole thing within a day. I had no idea they had a Birthday Cake flavor though…
Yay on the 4-miler! I’m a stay at home, work at home mama, but I guess I could’ve brought my “work” posse (a dog and 2 kids?!).
I’m loving some Love Grown products in my pantry!
Things I love? That cake! Wow it looks good. I am going to hunt for that ice cream since who doesn’t love ice cream??? Anything alcoholic makes me happy – bring it on! Kudos to you running that 4 mile run! 🙂 Have a great weekend Liz! -Iva
A lot of people have been raving about the halo tops! I would love to try them (especially the birthday cake since that is my favorite ice cream flavor!).
I’m excited for you and running your 4. That is awesome.
I’m trying to find the birthday cake flavor! But in the meantime I’m looooving the chocolate!
I love Halo Top! And all things Trader Joes 🙂 my local store stopped carrying Halo Top .. I need to get to the bottom of this! Loving their new look, as well.
Oh no! Gotta get that Halo Top back!
I think every single ice cream brand on the market should offer a sugar free & vegan option! JUST SAYIN’ ha ha ha! 😉 I wonder what might be out on the market in say, 3 years time! 😮
Hahaha might as well dream big!! 😉
TJ’s almond butter is SO good! I love both the creamy and crunchy versions!
I don’t know how theirs is so runny and delicious but it IS
Woohoo for running again! I am still on my yoga/rock climbing exercise routine, but I’m loving it!
