Weekend Family Time
We’ve been enjoying a long weekend over here in the Thomson house, and it’s been filled with family time! My parents came to visit late Friday night and are here until tomorrow morning. I love having them in town and it also means we get to spend lots of time with my brother, sister in law, and my adorable nephews.
Alex and I celebrated Valentine’s Day on Friday night, with a casual dinner out and some champagne at home. Alex didn’t fall for the “you don’t have to get me anything” line and surprised me with quite a few awesome presents!
I’d been wanting a spiralizer for ages and he claims that it’s the only kitchen appliance I didn’t have yet. (That’s not totally true… but almost true.)
I’m also loving this Richmond mug which is a reminder of lots of our favorite places. Isn’t it cute?
We spent most of Saturday and Sunday with my family and it’s fun just being together. My sister in law had a cute (and delicious) Valentine’s Day surprise for all of us.
Have you heard of these cupcakes in a jar? They’re called Wicked Good to Go cupcakes and they were on Shark Tank! We each got our own unique flavor and Aricka knows me well so mine was chocolate and peanut butter! It was so good.
Dessert and babies? Clearly it was a good weekend.
Baby Yawns.
That look wins the cutest baby nephew ever award.
My mom and I did try to work in some exercise by doing laps around Target on Sunday. According to her FitBit, I think we hit almost 5,000 steps just by circling the store. When you’re talking, the minutes (and steps) just fly by! I can’t wait until the weather warms up and we can start walking outside. It’s been freezing here and we’re supposed to get snow today! The wind alone was enough to knock our power out on Saturday night, so let’s hope this winter storm isn’t too bad. Brrrrr.
P.S. Did you make this vegan deep dish cookie yet?
Baby yawns are the cutest thing ever! Glad you had such a nice time with your family. Those memories are so important to have.
I’m OBSESSED with my spiralizer – I use it all the time! We don’t really celebrate Valentine’s but we have a special place in our hearts for Friday the 13th which also happened to be last week 😀
Awesome!!! You’ll have to give me some spiraling inspiration 🙂
5,000 steps in target?? How did you not buy the entire store?! I have to be in and out of that place asap or else I’ll end up buying everything. Literally no self control in that place!
Hahaha I know, right? We just did laps around the same stuff and then actually stuck to a list (for the most part). But usually I’m powerless to Target’s stuff!
A spiralizer, perfect! I’ve looked at these too but I’m not sure where to put one in our kitchen. ha-ha I look forward to gorgeous photos soon. 🙂 Our V-day we got stuck in a blizzard and spend 3/4 of it stuck behind accidents and then was forced to stay in a hotel room over night in a city 21 miles from our house. haha An adventure can be fun too. 🙂 Looks like by that yawn you had some major partying!
Haha oh no! That’s crazy! It sounds like you guys made the best of it though!
Your nephew is SO adorable!
Glad you had such a nice weekend 🙂
Yikes! Hope you guys got your power back.. Sounds like a great weekend with family and that little face does win best nephew award. 🙂 5000 steps huh? wow! I need to taek more walks around Target although it’ll cost me about that much. 😛 Have a great one Liz! -Iva
Luckily, we mostly only lost it for the time we were sleeping! Not too bad. And yeah, it was amazing that we didn’t end up buying the whole store!
what a great present…i hope you follow you follow Ali – http://www.inspiralized.com/ shes spiralizer queen!!!
I really really want a spiralizer! But we just don’t have room in our current apartment. 🙁
And I love family time. We’re currently at home (where our parents live) this week, and I’m soaking in every minute. So fun!
Being with family is so much fun! 🙂
I love how many things go in cute jars now! From salads to cookie mixes to cupcakes…one of my friends even brought her soup to lunch in a mason jar, which was so convenient for heating it up!
Yes! I pack juice and smoothies in mason jars!
Such a great weekend! Everyone thinks of romantic love for Valentine’s Day, but you got to spend time with LOTS of people you love. Bonus! 🙂
Yup, I celebrated, and it was a good weekend!
