Family Reunionizing
Hey there friends. Happy Monday! The family reunion was a lot of fun, but I’m happy to be back in civilization with internet, cell phone reception, and my own kitchen.
It was an interesting weekend to say the least. My family is crazy, just like every other family.
Brother, sister in law, me, grandma, mom and dad!
The reunion weekend was named “The Summer of Canned Heat“, denoting both the extreme temperatures, and a tribute to my mom’s cousin, who was apparently married to the drummer of Canned Heat. This led to the watching of a 3 hour documentary about Canned Heat, which, for those are you who are unaware, is apparently “The greatest boogie-blues band of all time”… according to the dvd. I can’t make this stuff up.
I also can’t make up this picture.
The table next to us, at “Mexi-Itali” (yes, a Mexican-Italian restaurant) had a bag of cheese curls to eat with their meal. Oh southern Ohio, how you depress me.
On a more positive note, every year we have a golf tournament in memory of my grandpa, so it’s always fun to see who will get the trophy!
I was armed with my cooler full of yogurt and vegetables, so I managed to survive. I also talked my dad into going to the gym with me, and my 69 year old uncle came too. It was a very cute moment of family bonding. I wish I’d taken a picture. My family has a few health-conscious members… but in general, they’re very… unenthusiastic toward healthy food.
Do you eat like your family?
<3 Liz
I definitely don’t eat like my family anymore but they are thankfully starting to eat like me. Well, with the exception of my dad that is..and my brother but I don’t count him because he’s a lost cause. My sister eats a lot like me now though so that’s always nice..and my mom is pretty similar to us too now.
So did that restaurant bring them that bag of cheese things or did the family bring it themselves? Either way that’s crazy.
I definitely eat like my family. (I’ll also pretty much eat anything though so that helps!). Looks like such a fun time – so jealous!!
Haha I’m definitely classified as the “picky one” in my family!
Cute family photo! Glad the reunion was a good time. And holy cow, cheese doodles at a restaurant?? Craziness. But mex-italian sounds crazy enough to begin with. I eat and am active much like my parents (except they aren’t vegan), but the extended fam is MUCH less healthy.
yay what fun! My family eats pretty well like me, so I am not usually too distressed when I visit them
Hmm, no not really. I can out-eat my family! But I eat healthier overall and also eat more often.
GLad you had fun =)
Canned Heat, hahah. I think everyone’s family has someone like that. 🙂
Your fam and my fam would probably get along.

I do NOT eat ike my family!! Im the only one who truly cares about health and nutrition, so I really try to teach them and show them what the healthier route is, but they still shove their faces ful of hot dogs, candy and sodas. O well, maybe once I have a degree they will listen to me 😉
Haha I hope they start to listen! I’ve been able to convince my mom to eat healthier, but my dad is another story!
Lmao, for a second I thought your question was “Do you like your family?” I do eat like my family though, they’ve kind of rubbed off on me. In fact, they made me say “pop” instead of “soda.” But now, I’m back to calling it “soda” (I’m such a rebel).
Hahaha my family says “pop” (They live in Ohio) and everyone here in Virginia laughs at me when I say pop, so now I say soda!
What fun! 😀 My family used to eat pretty bad, but over the years they’ve started eating much better. Now we all seem to be Whole Foods loving healthy eating gurus haha
love the cheese curl pic! I actually did not know what those were…i had to google it haha 🙂 My family are health nuts like me. My dad installed all his foodie knowledge on me, and my mom is a expert baker/cooker ( in mah opinion!). Glad you had a great weekend!
