What I Ate [From a Package] Wednesday
Yesterday was full of packaged food.
Calm down.
While I do agree that an abundance of processed/packaged/preservative-ridden food isn’t exactly idea, I’m willing to make exceptions. I think there is some good stuff out there! So here we go.
A What I Ate Wednesday Exclusive. I’ve also included links to all of the nutritional info on the store-bought stuff, if you’re into that sort of thing…
Breakfast:
A lovely bowl of my new-favorite-cereal: Fiber One Honey Clusters.
Morning Snack:
New Special K Peanut Butter and Chocolate Granola Bar, with some Diet Lipton Green Tea.
YUM. I used to drink tons of this tea in high school, and I’d forgotten about it for awhile. My love for it has returned. And hey, it’s cheaper than Kombucha!
Fun fact: I used to eat literally 3 servings of Special K with Strawberries in the morning, but I picked out all of the freeze dried berries because they’re nasty on their own, and I didn’t put milk in my cereal. So there you go.
Does anyone else find a morning snack necessary to function?
Lunch:
Pacific Foods Vegetable and Lentil Soup
Tasty!!!! Oh my gosh this soup was so good. The box is supposedly 2 servings, but come on. It’s lunch for one. Who divides this boxes into two meals?
Click here for nutritional info and remember to double the counts if you eat the whole box.
Afternoon Snack:
I’m usually starving when I get home from work. But all the fiber in that soup kept me pretty content until I got home. Of course, I still needed something when I got home. So I decided to have an apple + peanut butter. (At least these weren’t packaged!)
Dinner:
Yep, this was a package too. (What? Stop looking at me like that.)
Tortellini topped with some olive oil, parmesan cheese, salt and red pepper flakes. It was so simple, and I really liked it. Galen didn’t like it, but I think it’s because he mixed it with that Philadelphia cream cheese sauce stuff. Bleh.
I also had a simple salad (which actually didn’t come from a bag. So be proud of me.)
My resolutions post from Monday was rather broad, and while those are still my main resolutions, I thought of a few others:
- Pack my lunch at least 3 days a week. (I can still get a simple side salad from work for under a buck, so I’ll probably keep doing that! Simple way to get in my veggies!)
- Spend less $$$ on food in general. I’d say spend less at the grocery store, but that means I’d end up buying my lunch at work more often… so I’m just going to say spend less on food in general
- Finish things 100%. I’m super guilty of doing everything almost all the way. So my room is sort of clean. My closet is basically organized. My to-do list is almost complete. I want to really get things done this year!
One last thing… if you live in Richmond, I’m working on a RVA Restaurant Review Page! It’s now posted in one of the tabs up at the top. Most of the posts aren’t true “restaurant review” posts (just posts where the meal was in the post), but I’ll try to add more in the future!
What’s your favorite packaged food?
I would have multiple fingers of peanut butter after that spoonful 😉
I also need to finish my to-do lists… I dunno why it takes me so long!
Cereals are my fave processed food for sure, love them! And you are so right about the soup, how would anyone just have half a box?
That’s some serious self-control to limit the PB to just one spoonful!
That’s why I have to scoop it out onto my plate! If I bring the jar, I’ll eat half a cup by dipping my apple in! haha
Apples and nut butter make the Best snack!
PF soups are so hit or miss for me that I was about to quit buying them altogether. I’ll keep an eye out for that one though.
Fav packaged food? Hmmm… ice cream? No. Peanut butter? No. I can’t decide. There are too many good options!
Sometimes all the food I eat in one day is out of a package too and I dont realize it until later..
I would love to try one of those Special K Granola bars! And apple and nut butter is an awesome snack! 😀
My favorite packaged food?? That is one hard question.. Cereal. Snack bars. Pasta… and the list goes on…
On my lazy days, I live on packaged food! Mostly cookies and energy bars especially when I’m working on an assignment!!
My fave packaged food would be… CEREALS! and gingerbread cookies. and pretzels. OOOoohh! and does Eggo waffles count? 😉
For being packaged food, it was still a healthy day! I want to try that Fiber One- I’ve tried the original and the 80 calorie kind and I love them both.
The honey clusters have more calories, but I feel like they fill me up a lot better than the 80 calorie stuff. (which I guess makes sense!) It also has less of a splenda taste, in my opinion!
I feel ya: I heart vegetables, but sometimes really good packaged products exist. I rely on KIND bars during travel, and I’m in love with almost everything Trader Joe’s makes.
Also a fan of your resolutions. 100% is something I’ll aim to do in 2012, too. I love making lists, but rarely cross everything off. We can do it!
What are you talking about, girl? THERE WAS AN APPLE IN THERE, that suffices for the ENTIRE day. Sometimes I do exactly that and eat just packaged food…but it’s okay, mental taste is important too =) I make up for it when I feel like it (today I was really really good and make a green smoothie. That happens about twice a month at best.) And it was good, healthy packaged food, too.
My favorite packaged food is…probably bars; raw food, granola, nut, chocolate. The tastes are endless. That, and ice cream. So many flavors. So little time. Happy WIAW love! x
