Traveling Eats
Traveling certainly has a way of switching up my meals, although I found my self eating some familiar dishes during my trip back to Columbus. I thought today would be a fun time to link up with Jenn and get in on her Wednesday tradition!
Yesterday was quite busy, waking up at the hotel, and eating a quick breakfast before spending the day working at a career fair.
I knew my breakfast would need to carry me through a busy day so I started off with Greek yogurt, fruit, and granola. I also ended up having half a piece of toast and a few bites of breakfast potatoes but they didn’t make it into the photo.
I was on my feet all morning so lunch was a welcomed break. There was a Chipotle right across the street from the career fair so I opted for a vegetarian burrito bowl. I will never tire of this lunch.
I snacked on an orange in the afternoon but I was still hungry when dinner time rolled around. By this point I was at the airport, at the only restaurant that was in the terminal. To say there vegetarian options were limited would be an understatement. They actually didn’t have anything vegetarian on the menu.
I ended up getting a chicken salad without the chicken. This was the kind of salad that people eat because it’s called a salad but is really just cleverly disguised cheese and nachos. This was far from healthy but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do. I ate most of this and will admit that it was quite delicious for airport food. I guess you win some, you lose some.
I’m certainly ready to get back into the kitchen this week! Now it’s a matter of deciding where to begin experimenting!
Does traveling switch up your eating?
I’ve never had the desire to try Chipotle but that vegetarian burrito bowl might just make me change my mind!
Oh my goodness I’m obsessed! You have to try it!
I become more indulgent when I’m travelling – I think I like to experience dining out more than anything. I don’t eat anything overly different, I stick to what I usually love and Chipotle is always on top of the list – yum! Best of luck on your travels and happy Hump Day Liz! -Iva
I go out to eat when I travel and try to enjoy the best local foods. I won’t try to deprive myself, but I’ve learned so much about nutrition that I don’t freak out when I look at a menu anymore.
Wow that food looks so good. Do I tell you that your food photography always looks amazing. I always get so hungry when reading your posts.
Eating while travelling is so hard. Well, you still had some good eats! I have never had Chipotle before but every single picture I see of it makes my desire to go there even bigger! Adorable blog, btw! 🙂
chipotle never gets boring for me either..I am so sorry about the lack of vegetarian options..but you gotta do what you gotta do sometimes 🙁
That burrito bowl looks good! I try to stay mostly consistent when I travel, but sometimes your plans fall through and you just have to make do with what’s available! Luckily, most of the place I travel to aren’t that far from a Panera, so I can always find something good to eat!
Mmmm, Chipotle! I def change up my eats when traveling, which is fun for my taste buds but not my waistline!
There is nothing that could make me sick of chipotle! I am bad at overindulging while traveling!
For a day of traveling, your meals (esp. lunch :)) sound great. Usually when we’re traveling, it’s almost always 10+ hour flights, so I’ll try to actually pack all of my meals. The good thing about Kuwait’s airport is they allow smoothies (any beverages) through the gate, so I never have any problem w/ that meal & the rest is just in tupperware (salads/sandwiches/fruits&nutbutter,etc…)
