Things I’ve Learned From Blogging
I don’t think of myself as a blogger. I’m just a girl with a blog. It’s the same way I feel about running. I’m not a runner… I’m just a girl that runs. It’s different, right? No? Doesn’t matter. Either way, I’ve learned a lot of things in the past year or so.
I learned that:
I don’t need to fear nut butters.
What? No, seriously.
Back in high school I was all “OMG! 200 calories in 2 tablespoons? Nevvvvah.” I’d shun that jar of Jif in my parents pantry. I was a calorie counting maniac.
Then I discovered two things:
1. Nut butter, while high in calories, is actually quite good for you
2. Jif doesn’t even compare to the amazing nut butters on the shelf, or the kind I can make at home.
What you eat is not what I eat, and that’s ok.
I’m easily impressionable. I see someone eating chia seeds and I want to put them on every single thing I eat. Someone stir frys in coconut oil? I must do that. You eat soy yogurt not greek yogurt? Should I be doing that?
Wait stop.
What tastes good to me, might not taste good to you. What my body needs is what what your body needs. I mean, look at all the WIAW posts! We all eat different things, and that’s ok!
Exercise is more than Cardio and 5lb dumbells
I was the classic “45min of the elliptical and a few bicep curls with a light weight.” I didn’t push myself with strength training. I didn’t want muscle, I just wanted to burn off calories. And then I saw girls like Katie and Bonnie kicking butt in the gym. And I thought… I can do that too! I’m no where near as toned as these ladies, but I’m on my way! π
Great points to make…..Nut butters are not to be feared! Too good to not eat π
Love this post!!!! Isn’t that the truth about nut butters. They’re so delicious. I’ve never gone through so many jars in a month.
I’ve learned that I can try new ingredients! I used to just make a few simple things that I knew I liked, but now I’m willing to try those chia seeds and other cooking ideas–like you say, doesn’t mean I have to like it all or that it will be right for me, but I learned that I can explore and find out! And YES for giving weights a go! I love free weights, and am on my way to trying more power-lifting type stuff.
I’ve also learned what I eat is not what you eat. Doesn’t make me weird. Just normal. π
Love this post. I don’t consider myself a blogger… especially right now. I feel like I learn something everyday from blogs… whether it be the latest exercise routine or food. I always love to see what everyone else is up to.
amen! haha loved this post. I have learned that its ok to be hungry at anytime of the day…also honoring your hunger π
Woo! Amen sista!! I used to be the same way about nut butters, it’s so sad to realize I deprived myself of them for so long! Now I’m making up for lost time haha π
Haha that’s what I’m going to call my addiction. Making up for lost time! π
I love this post and can definitely relate to learning not to fear nut butters! And amen to the second point as well. I have been influenced too many times… I have enjoyed some of the items I have tried, but for the most part… not so much!
Haha there are some creative bloggers out there! But sometimes my taste buds can’t keep up π
Amen to all of those points. What you eat is not what I eat actually took me quite a while to learn. I tried to eat what all of the bloggers ate and ended up very unhappy.
love this post! you rock π
