Things I’m Loving Lately
I’m usually telling you about the latest thing I ate, but there are a few other favorites I’ve discovered over the past month or two, so I thought I’d switch things up and share those.
Morroccan Oil. My friend Christina gave me this (she wasn’t using it, so I figured I’d give it a shot) and I’m obsessed. I have thick, coarse hair with a lot of curl to it. This stuff totally tames it. Normally I can’t let my hair air dry without it turning into a puff ball of frizz but this stuff makes it easy to straighten or curl into submission. A bit of this worked in while my hair is still wet has been a lifesaver in the Richmond humidity! If you have thin hair, it might weigh your hair down too much, but if you have unruly locks, give this a shot.
Alex and I have been reading a lot lately. We’re limiting ourselves on the Netflix binging… and it’s nice to not stare at a screen for at least a few hours a day. I found this book, <Homeward Bound: Why Women Are Embracing the New Domesticity” target=”_blank” rel=”noopener”>Homeward Bound, at a used bookstore (even though it was just written last year) and I’m loving it. It’s all about the homemaking culture and how it’s shifted over the past decades. The chapter I read last night, about blogging, certainly struck a chord with me!
Julep Nail Polish. I’m not usually the monthly-subscription-box type but this one has me hooked. Price wise, it’s about the same as Essie or OPI. But I love this stuff because it goes on well with one coat. Yes, one. Even this pale lavender color. This is the nail polish I wore for my wedding and I keep on wearing it because I can’t believe the light color goes on so well! I’ve tried a few other colors from them and I’ve been really happy. (You can sign up here through my Julep affiliate link!)
I purchased the Sermon on the Mount study guide from She Reads Truth and I love the gorgeous design (and of course, the great content). You can follow along each day without the study guide, but I’m a sucker for a pen and paper. It’s a nice way to start off the day.
I have some Julep nail polish but I haven’t used it yet. Pretty colors! Lately I’m loving being on a GF diet. I feel so much better!!
Oh that’s awesome! Good luck on GF eating!!
Yes, I know all about that thick, unruly head of hair…because I have it too! Humidity is not my friend either. I need to try that product. I have been air-drying mine a lot lately because it is just too darn hot to stand under the hair dryer to straighten it right now.
I hear you! I haaaate drying my hair. It takes forever!! Now I usually shower at night, use the oil, and let it air dry, then straighten or curl in the morning!
Moroccan oil is such a revelation. I’ve used it in my hair before and loved the sleek and fresh look it gave my hair.
The Moroccan oil has actually been working well with the humidity and my hair as well. I feel like without it my hair would be so big. I should be more embarrassed.
Oh my gosh I looooove She Reads Truth. I was thinking of ordering that as well, because like you said, having the pen and paper in front of you is really helpful.
And those nail polishes! Gorgeous. I need a pale purple like that in my life, now!
Isn’t it such a great community? Totally get the workbook 🙂 It makes it even better!!
Picking up that book ASAP. Gender roles are always interesting to me, and most people are surprised that I really embrace traditional gender roles and a shift back to domesticity.
Frizziness drives me crazy this time of year, I’ll have to give the Moroccan oil a try!
I’m following the new she reads truth bible study too!! It is nice to know someone else who is doing it! I already feel more motivated to keep up with the readings 🙂 it is always refreshing to occasionally read a non food related post! 🙂
I need to get my hands on that hair oil. I’m currently using a Suave hair oil to help tame my frizzy hair, but I don’t think it’s holding up to all this FL humidity! Thanks for the rec!
Definitely gonna give that morrocan oil treatment a try as my hair has been on a mission of its own these past few weeks, thanks for bringing it to my attention. I love my ninja in the summer, makes such good smoothies!
