Keeping [Mostly] in Check
I’m definitely much more “relaxed” over the holidays.
As it should be! If a workout gets skipped, because I’m busy visiting friends and family that’s the kind of trade off I’m ok with. And if I eat some extra sugar on Christmas… well Aunt Dee’s brownies were totally worth it.
But the fact is, I feel best when I’m eating healthy and exercising.
So it’s all about balance ๐
My mom and I took a trip to Trader Joe’s and stocked up on some of my favorites, so I’d have things to munch on. And she also picked up Arnold Whole Wheat Mini Sandwich thins, which were new-to-me.
I’ve had this the past couple of days:

To make this delicious lunch:
Arnold whole wheat mini + Trader Joe’s garlic hummus + Trader Joe’s chopped veggies + Everything Pretzel Slims
My blog is also having quite a Christmas. Presents included:
- A light box (for better pictures!)
- A new Jillian Michael’s DVD (review to come)
- Kitchen gadgets (berry saver, produce keeper, collapsable measuring cups)
- A Kindle Fire (so I’ll be reading blogs wherever there is wifi!)
Now I’m off to go to the gym with Alexa. (Probably a good idea, since the Northstar burger is to be consumed tonight.)
After the excess of Christmas, I am absolutely CRAVING nutritious and healthy meals. I’m still weighed down from so much damn pie, but I hope to get back on the wagon this week. I have two fitness dvds and a trip to the grocery store waiting for me.
My friend gave me a cupcake carrier- I LOVE it!
I’m glad you had a good Christmas, and I’m the same way; I always feel better when I’m eating right and exercising! Time to get back on track!
The mini thins are new to me as well, but they look so cute! I didn’t get any kitchen related gifts this year. But I got some cool things I will talk about later in the week ๐ Can’t wait to hear about the kitchen gifts!
I DID get kitchen gifts ๐ hehehe I had quinoa in my stocking AND chia seeds ๐ My parents giggled and said they don’t know any other kid that would be so excited to get chia seeds and quinoa in their stocking ๐ hahahaha
I am so much like you. I skipped my workouts and it didn’t phase me ๐ I rather be with my fam jam ๐
Your lunch looks delicious! I agree, its important to be more relaxed over the holidays, but also to jump right back on the healthy eating train afterwards! I got lots of baking equipment for Christmas so I can make healthy baked goods at university!
Those pretzels look tasty! In terms of cooking stuff, I got a whisk and a spatula, haha–so I’m hoping you already have those on hand and don’t need my suggestion to go find a sale version ๐
i wish i got some christmas kitchen gifts! ๐ i love those kind of things
mmmm. hummus sammies…<3
i agree with your outlook on holidays! can't wait for the jillian michaels dvd review!
xo.
I agree—it’s great to be relaxed at the holiday, but I really don’t feel that great when it’s all said and done! Maybe it’s just a little reminder that the healthy lifestyle is worth it!
I didn’t get any kitchen gadgets this year, but I’m always interested in them!
