I’m a long-time Brussels sprouts fan — and a little hot honey takes these to the next level. The sprouts roast up crispy and golden, and that drizzle of spicy-sweet honey right at the end makes them totally irresistible. I like using AR’s hot honey because it’s made locally here in Virginia, but you can find Mike’s Hot Honey across the country. If you love these sprouts, try my Brussels sprout tacos!

Ingredients and Substitutions

  • Hot honey: This adds a sweet heat that takes these sprouts to the next level. If you don’t have hot honey, try mixing regular honey with a pinch of red pepper flakes or a dash of hot sauce.
  • Brussels sprouts: Roasting brings out their natural sweetness and gives them those crispy, caramelized edges. You can also try this with halved baby bok choy or quartered cabbage wedges if you’re feeling adventurous.
  • Olive oil: Helps the sprouts brown beautifully. Avocado oil works too!
  • Salt: Just enough to enhance the natural flavors.

Tips and Tricks

  • Roast the sprouts cut side down. Arranging the sprouts cut side down helps them brown up nicely.
  • Use a heavy baking sheet. This helps prevent burning and encourages even roasting.
  • Serve right away. These are best fresh out of the oven while the edges are crispy and the honey is sticky and delicious.
