Boho Cycle Studio Review and Pumpkin Painting
Even though I missed opening weekend, I did make it to the first week of classes at Boho Cycle Studio, the new indoor cycling place in Richmond.
First of all, let me say that I’ve never been into cycling. Prior to this class, I’d taken two cycling classes in my life. They were… fine. It just didn’t seem like my style of exercise. I love barre, gymnastics, yoga… But spin always seemed a little…boring.
But Boho totally changed my mind about that! The class was an hour long but it flew by! Our instructor was awesome, upbeat, and played an energizing mix of music. We were changing speeds and positions so often, it never got boring. The whole classroom was dark, which was sort of made it feel like a yoga class. I liked that it made it more relaxing, and it was easier to just let my mind wander, while I got in some mad cardio. Of course, the best part was when she brought us each a cool, lavender scented washcloth right before we cooled down. That was the best feeling ever!! My Boho Cycle Studio Review: Officially awesome.
Plus, the studio is adorable. The bathroom was stocked with extra bobby pins and hair ties (we all know how forgetting those can ruin a workout!) and the bikes use actual clip-in shoes. I’d never used those before, but it made a huge difference in the feel of the ride. My roommate, Lindsay, was on the bike next to me, and I had a new appreciation for her recent 50 mile bike ride. Phew. I’m exhausted just thinking about it.
I bought a class package and now I’m so excited to go back. The studio is adorable and it’s pretty close by which is convenient. I’m definitely sore today, which is a good sign. (If anyone in RVA wants to take a class together, let me know!)
After class, I picked up a pumpkin and took it over to Alex’s apartment with some paints in hand. I figured painting was a little less messy than carving, and this way we could each do a side.
A house divided, as they say. Alex gets extra points for choosing a more difficult design. (But still… Go Bucks!)
Love your pumpkins! 🙂 Ours are pretty boring and just plain orange haha… no carving or anything!
Pumpkin painting/carving is so much fun to do with your significant other. I totally like your idea of painting.. you don’t have to worry about them rotting either =) Score!
Yep! And much easier clean up!! 🙂
Sounds like a fun class! I’ve done spin class before and will do it as I know it is good for me but I really don’t enjoy the bike at all! Running is what I truly love 🙂
I wish I liked cycling! I’ve done it one time before, but it was soooo hard!! Haha I’ll have to give it a try again:)
NOOOOOOOOOO cycling for GIGI!! I remember the first time I ever did it. I put the shoes on and thought to myself, OOOOO BOY, what did I get myself into. I later thought the same thing when I couldn’t get OUT OF THE BIKE because my shoes were attached to the petals, I fell off in a very weird and awkward way after the horrendous class where the teacher actually CALLED ME OUT a few times for not standing up to pedal! FU lady, I am trying to figure out what in the world I am doing, and it doesn’t help that the room is PITCH BLACK!!! lol! So yea, no cycling for me! 😉
Oh no, you poor thing! That sounds AWFUL! I’m sure if you’d come to Boho, you would have enjoyed it a little more 😉 It definitely took me a minute to get used to the shoes, but the instructor was SO nice, so that made it easier!
I went to a cycling class… def not my thing. It was a bit too much pressure on my hips (I had surgery, I’m like an old lady lol) I don’t want to be in that much pain, plus the instructor’s songs were so not my type. Glad you enjoyed 🙂
I’ve never tried cycling (i like yoga and running) but you make a pretty compelling argument for giving it a try. Alex was a Badger? So was my husband 🙂 the Badger blood runs deep 🙂
Alex was a a badger!!! He’s definitely way more into football than I am, but I like to spur on the rivalry 😉 GO BUCKS!
Spin is always hit or miss for me. The seat hurts my butt!! haha PS – love the pumpkins 🙂
Haha I hear you! Luckily, we spent a lot of the class “out of the saddle” which felt awesome!
I never tried cycling before either bc I honestly thought I’d get bored with it. Not the case here, I am in love with this lil’ studio and the classes! I’ll definitely go with you anytime, I snagged a package too 🙂 (I signed up for Mallory’s class next Wednesday if you’re interested!)
Brittany and I signed up for Tuesday at 6am! We will definitely have to take a class together, soon!
We don’t have any cycle-specific studios in Williamsburg, but that place looks so fun! I’ve only taken 2 spin classes before too, and they were as you said- fine. I think the music has a lot to do with my interest level!
