A Day in NYC
I don’t travel too often for work, but this week I’m in NYC for a work event. It made for an interesting and busy day yesterday, but I managed to capture a few scenes on my phone. What did we do before iphones? I’ll keep this day of meals simple for a little What I Ate Wednesday in NYC. I arrived yesterday afternoon (and I’m heading out this morning) so it’s been a very quick trip.
Breakfast
I ate a hearty breakfast before heading to the airport, since I knew it might be awhile before I was able to catch lunch. I did the protein powder in the yogurt trick to give this bowl a little more staying power.
Lunch
After arriving in NYC, I had to get some work done before our event later in the evening. I ate while working, which was actually quite peaceful, despite the flurry of e-mails.
I stopped by a little Indian restaurant that was around the corner from my hotel, and loaded up on a vegetable curry with a little rice and naan. It was really filling, which was good since I knew I wouldn’t be eating dinner at a reasonable hour.
Dinner
Our event was at the Plaza, which was quite elegant. I was working most of the evening, so I didn’t have a whole lot of time to grab a bite. After the event ended, I was able to snag a few bites and a glass of wine. (Nothing like carbs + cheese!) But I saved some of my appetite for a real dinner later.
We went to a really cool French restaurant called Rue 57 that had everything, so we ended up ordering a lot of small plates to share. I had some beet salad with goat cheese, some “street” corn, and a whole bunch of french fries. I also had a little wine and a few cups of tea. *Whew* I guess you have to eat a lot when you’re only in the big city for a day!
What’s on your plate today?
That dinner at Rue 57 looks awesome! French fries and wine are always ok in my book!
Sounds like so much fun!! I agree, when you’re out in a big city then eating the different foods is a must. I think you can still make good choices even if you’re eating out! .. and that Indian plate looks amazing 🙂
I wouldn’t mind a quick trip to the big city, even if it was a working one. Fun! I picked up on the beet salad with goat cheese. I just confessed that I’ve never eaten a beet and goat cheese is not fave. I have a few things to work on. PS I’m happy to find another black coffee drinker. yay!
I love the Plaza – so nice. At least you get out of here before the snow – have a safe trip back!
I will certainly head to an Indian restaurant next time I’m in the city- that plate is so appetizing! Glad you enjoyed your quick trip 🙂
I’ve been craving Indian food for a coupe of weeks now. Yours looks delicious 🙂 Also, I’m jealous of your trip to NYC – quick or not – that is just the best city!!
It’s definitely a fun city! I wish I could have stayed longer!
One of my favorite things to do when visiting NYC is eat, so that’s awesome that you were able to try several different tasty things over a short trip!
Yes!! I made sure to squeeze in as much food as my belly could handle 😉
Seriously…what DID we do before iPhones?? I hope you had a great trip!
If you have time, go to Felix. It’s amazing French food!
