What I [Photographed] Wednesday
Just in case you missed my superimportantannoucement on Monday… I’m still playing with my new camera!
My friend Taylor took me out on Monday for a little photo adventures and just an hour with her was SO helpful! (She does weddings and such if anyone in RVA is looking!)
If you didn’t know any better, you’d think I knew what I was doing. (Thank you for the pic, Taylor!)
So this was a fun, and challenging post, since I’m still trying to learn my way around my camera. Obviously, I couldn’t snap a picture at work with my camera, so that was my exception in this post.
Breakfast:
Simple bowl of Chobani 0% with vanilla stevia, frozen blueberries, and Udi’s cranberry granola.
Lunch:
Since my barley stew made a bunch of servings, and I’m the only one eating it, I had leftovers at work. I took this picture earlier, obviously (since I get enough strange looks from my co-workers for bringing in things like kale chips and kombucha tea. I don’t need to add a giant camera into the mix.)
I also grabbed some veggies from the salad bar at work, and topped it with some Trader Joe’s Peppercorn Ranch, which I brought from home. I’m normally not a fan of salad dressings (they usually just taste kind of slimy to me) but this dressing is light and delicious.
Afternoon snack:
As soon as I got home from work, I was starving. So I grabbed a slice of homemade wheat bread, and topped it with a smear of almond butter. This bread is really dense, and since it’s made with whole wheat flour and whole grain oats, it’s fiber packed as well! I’ll try to remember to post the recipe soon.
Dinner:
My friend Kate and I went to Xtra’s Cafe in Carytown, specifically for 1/2 off wine night. (I normally go on Wednesdays… for $10 bottles of champagne, but… I’m flexible.) Sadly, I brought my camera, and forgot my memory card… so no photo from there. But you know what white wine looks like, right?
When I finally got home, I wasn’t that hungry, but I knew I needed to eat something, so I whipped up a simple smoothie
- 1 frozen banana
- 1 handful ice cubes
- 1 cup almond milk
- stevia to taste
Bring on the skippy for me 😀 If you enjoy it and will save you a few bucks – then why not! All things in moderation.
Wow, that bread looks so, so good… looking forward to the recipe! Great about the camera but I see what you mean about taking it to work 🙂
I’ve sneaked a few phone pictures of food before but it’s so hard to look casual…
I like the smoothie in a jar idea, sounds great!
I love Skippy too- cheap n cheerful 😉
LOL @ the smoothie in the peanut butter jar! hehehee
Its the best way to get all the peanut butter out! 🙂
Congrats on the new camera! I usually buy the cheapest PB I can find that is natural without added sugar or salt. Usually that I Krema. All PB seems to be crazy expensive right now.
I buy the cheapest peanut butter I can find that doesn’t have anything added—I like the natural stuff that just has peanuts and salt in it. So usually I get smuckers natural, but have bought the store brand before too. Depends on where I am. I try to remind myself that it would be cheapest to just make it myself, but often I’m just too lazy!
Have fun with your new camera!
Congrats on getting the new camera! Don’t you just love it? 😀
So excited for you and your new camera. I buy mid range nut butters. I buy almond butter from Costco, sunflower butter (my favorite) from Walmart, but usually I’ll just make my own, so, so much cheaper & custom. I love Barney Butter but the price is ridiculous, no thanks.
Since I am not a food blogger I don’t sneak pics of my food. But when I do want to take pics of food I show no shame. My friends already know the drill and that I am weird.
All of your eats look SO good – I’m waiting on the microwave right now for mine!
Loving your new camera – I can’t wait to get mine!
My colleagues are used to me photographing my food but still think I’m odd for doing it but then again so do all the people that see me when I am out doing the same thing! Ha ha I am the weirdo in the cafe/restaurant taking pictures of my food yes : )
