Like many of you, we’ve found ourselves ordering takeout more than ever this year. Whether I need a break from cooking or we’re just craving one of our favorite spots, we typically order takeout a couple of times a week. For my local friends, I wanted to share some of my favorite takeout spots here in Richmond!

En Su Boca

En Su Boca is one of our favorite taco spots in Richmond and their takeout process is quick and easy. Place your order over the phone and it’s ready at the takeout window, typically in less than 30 minutes. I like that the pickup process requires minimal contact and I don’t have to go inside. The tacos travel fairly well and the food is a great value. They have plenty of vegetarian options and the black bean tacos are my favorite in Richmond!

Our go to order: chips & salsa, Mexican street corn, black bean taco (for me) and a fried fish taco (for Alex).

Stella’s Grocery

Stella’s Grocery has some of the best (and most affordable) takeout options in the city! Their market in Scott’s Addition has made to order Souvlaki bowls, salads, and sandwiches that cost around $10. They also have plenty of pre-made salads, pastas, and sandwiches to grab and go if you’re in a hurry. Their online ordering makes it easy, and they limit the number of patrons inside, so it’s safe and easy to pick up your meal. FYI- the menu options are different depending on the location!

Our typical order: Falafel Souvlaki Bowl with french fries (Alex and I can share that and it’s plenty for the two of us!) or the Palm Springs Caesar Salad.

Having a bad day? Order Gersi. Having a good day? Order Gersi. This Italian restaurant has quickly become one of our favorites. Place your order over the phone and it’s usually ready for pick up in about half an hour. The pasta travels extremely well and it’s always hot when we get it home.

Our typical order: Cacio e Pepe, Strozzapreti, and mashed potatoes. Plus, each order comes with a side of crusty bread. (Hey, we love carbs, ok?)

Nate’s Bagels

If we’re ordering breakfast, it’s almost always Nate’s Bagels. They have the best bagels in Richmond, hands down. I love the Rosemary Sea Salt bagel but you can’t go wrong with any of their flavors. Pro tip: Order online but plan to pick your order 15 minutes after the time it says it’ll be ready. They tend to get slammed on the weekends, so go ahead and budget the extra time. That way, your order will be ready when you arrive!

Our typical order: Rosemary sea salt bagel with hummus, avocado, tomato, and cucumber (for me). The New Virginny: Housemade vegan sausage, local tomato jam, caramelized onions, “cashmear” cashew-based cream cheese (for Alex).

Lemon Cuisine of India

If we’re craving Indian food, we order Lemon. They have an extensive menu and we always end up with enough leftovers for lunch the next day. Order online via EatStreet for pick up or delivery.

Our typical order: Aloo Gobi or Channa Masala (for me) and Paneer Makhni or Paneer Tikka (for Alex) plus garlic naan.

Those are our current favorite spots! Richmond friends, what are your favorite takeout places?
