Single Serving Apple Crisp
This single serving apple crisp can be made in the microwave, so when your apple craving strikes, you can make this dessert in minutes! It’s a great way to take advantage of apple season!
I love apple season and my husband Alex makes an amazing apple pie. But that only comes out for special occasions so I wanted to make an easy single serving recipe that I could enjoy when I’m in the mood for some apples!
Apple Crisp Ingredients
- Apples– I like using a sweet red apple like a Honeycrisp or a Fuji but you can use a tart apple like Granny Smith if that’s your favorite kind!
- Flour– I used all purpose flour but a gluten free flour blend would work just fine, too.
- Brown sugar– Light brown sugar or dark brown sugar is fine. You can increase it to two tablespoons if you want a sweeter crisp.
- Butter– I used Earth Balance buttery spread to keep this vegan but you can use regular butter if you prefer.
- Rolled oats– The oats help create that classic crisp texture.
- Cinnamon– We need cinnamon to give us the true apple crisp flavor!
How to Make Single Serving Apple Crisp
Peel and chop the apple into small pieces, then place them in a small microwave-safe bowl or ramekin.
Combine the flour and brown sugar, and then use a fork to cut in the butter until it’s crumbly. Add oats and cinnamon and then pour it over the apples.
Bake at 350 for about 20-25 minutes or microwave for 3 1/2 minutes. Let cool, then enjoy!
Tips for the Perfect Apple Crisp
- Make sure to really combine the flour, sugar, and butter so that it’s crumbly. It’s important to incorporate the butter well, so you don’t have any really large clumps.
- Keep in mind that microwave times may vary, so keep a close eye on your apple crisp.
- The apple crisp will shrink as it cooks, so you may need a large ramekin or bowl to combine the apples and crumble topping, but it will get smaller as it cooks.
- You can also divide this into two small ramekins, if you want to share!

I love single serving recipes, in fact it is what I use most! This recipe looks great, I will have to try it out!
Looks so delicious and simple! I know it’s getting chilly and warm dishes are much more preferred, but I once made a killlller raw apple pie that is real easy to make and requires mass apples. The crust is just dates n’ almonds and you peel n’ slice a bunch of apples really thin, then coat with a blend of orange juice, cinnamon, more dates, nutmeg n’ raisins. Shhooot it’s so good! happy October!
Such a great idea! And looks so easy too. Love it.
Yum! I will definitely be trying this!
I love you for this! Because if I make a regular apple crisp, I can and will eat the whole thing. At once. No shame. But isn’t exactly an everyday thing to do ;D
Enjoy my favorite city in the world (aka my home)!
For really great vegetarian/vegan options, you should check out the Candlelight Cafe and Dirt Candy.. And make sure you see things that are not super touristy- the real awesomeness of the city lays behind all those tourist traps. 🙂
Love the taste of baked apples, and this is perfect to satisfy the craving without having to deal with leftovers 🙂
Apple butter! I keep seeing amazing recipes for slow cooked apple butter…..yum! Enjoy NYC Liz!! X
Sounds Delish, but don’t see the baking temp/time? Thanks b
