Ingredients and Substitution

  • Oats– You’ll want to use old-fashioned or rolled oats and not quick-cooking oats or steel-cut oats. If you’re gluten-free, be sure to use certified gluten-free oats.
  • Peanut butter– I recommend using creamy peanut butter, but crunchy peanut butter works, too! Keep in mind if your peanut butter is unsalted or heavily salted, you may want to adjust the salt to taste.
  • Honey– I used honey for sweetener, but maple syrup or agave work well if you wanted to make this recipe vegan.
  • Vanilla– A little vanilla helps enhance the sweetness.
  • Chocolate chips– I prefer mini chocolate chips, so you get a tiny bit of chocolate in every bite, but you can use regular chips or even chopped dark chocolate if you prefer. I’ve also made this with cacao nibs for a less sweet version.
