^^ That’s what my brother said to me yesterday, as I was guzzling down my now-beloved Kombucha tea. “What happened to the girl that wouldn’t try anything new?!” he asked me. He’s got a point.
I was the girl who wouldn’t try anything new. Especially when it came to food. Actually, I think that reputation stuck around with me, long after I’d grown out of it, because of my aversion to meat. Ruling out an entire chunk of the food pyramid will do that…
But things have changed, and there are few things I won’t try these days (other than meat related things of course.) One new thing I tried the other day:
Carrot Ginger Soup
I wasn’t sure if I’d like a carrot based soup, but it had pretty stellar nutritionals (especially for cafeteria food) and I was pleasantly surprised with the taste! Does anyone have a carrot soup recipe? I’d like to make this at home!
I also tried the new Lightlife frozen dinners (yes, lightlife, the makers of Smart Bacon and stuff like that.) They were on sale AND I had a coupon (holy crap, when did I become an old lady? I don’t know.)
It was linguine, asparagus, white beans, & peppers. It was so filling that I started to wonder if there was more than one 280 calorie serving in that box… but it wasn’t! It was just so full of veggies that it was super filling. The sauce even comes in a separate packet, so when you heat it up, it doesn’t make the veggies all soggy. Yum. I’ll be eating this again! How do you guys feel about Lightlife products, like smart bacon and those fake hot dogs? I’m not really a fan, but I suppose if you were craving some veggie friendly carnivore dishes… maybe they’re good.
Did you used to be a picky eater? Are you still a picky eater? Are you one of those “I’ll try anything” people?
